When the Pokémon uses Surf or Dive, it will come back with prey. When it takes damage, it will spit out the prey to attack.

Currently unknown

Gulp Missile (Japanese: うのミサイル Gulp Missile) is an Ability introduced in Generation VIII. It is the signature Ability of Cramorant.

Effect

In battle

After Cramorant uses Surf or Dive, Cramorant catches prey and changes its form depending on its remaining HP.

If its HP is over half, it catches an Arrokuda and changes into its Gulping Form. If its HP is under half, it instead catches a Pikachu and changes into its Gorging Form. If hit by an attack in either form, Cramorant spits out its catch at the attacker, dealing damage equal to ¼ of the attacker's maximum HP and inflicting a secondary effect depending on its catch: Arrokuda lowers the attacker's Defense by one stage, while Pikachu paralyzes them.

If the attacker has Magic Guard, it will take no damage, but still trigger the cutscene and take the Defense drop or paralysis.

If Cramorant Dynamaxes while it has a catch in its mouth, it reverts to its base form (without spitting its catch). Even if a Dynamaxed Cramorant uses Surf or Dive (only possible as a wild Pokémon in a Max Raid Battle), it will not change into its Gulping or Gorging Form.

Gastro Acid, Worry Seed, and Simple Beam fail if the target has Gulp Missile. Role Play, Skill Swap, and Entrainment fail if either Pokémon has Gulp Missile. Gulp Missile cannot be copied by Trace.

Outside of battle

Gulp Missile has no effect outside of battle.
