Goldenrod City
Welcome to Goldenrod, the largest metropolis in Johto and sister city to Saffron in Kanto. This sprawling city boasts several major attractions, including a Pokémon Gym, Bike Shop, Game Corner, Radio Tower, and Department Store. There is so much to do in the big city that it is easy to forget about a single shady character. But with a Rocket Grunt keeping tabs on the Radio Tower, expect to save the city sooner or later. But first thing's first, let's see the sights!
National Park (optional)
The National Park connecting 35 and 36 is a haven for Bug- and Grass Pokémon. The Bug-Catching Contest is held here every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Bug-Catching Contest
The Bug-Catching Contest is free to enter, and the objective is to catch the single best Bug Pokémon possible. Trainers are given 20 Sport Balls and allowed to use a single Pokémon from their party. The others are held temporarily until the competition is over. Any Pokémon caught during the contest will be recorded by the Pokédex, though only one can be kept for judging. The competition ends when all 20 Sport Balls are used, the Trainer blacks out, leaves the park, or 20 minutes have passed. The Pokémon that was judged may be kept after the competition. A Pokémon's Bug-Catching Contest is determined by its level, IVs, remaining HP, and how likely it was to appear.

Bike Shop
{| class="expandable" align="center" style="background: #; roundy; border: 5px solid #;"
The Bike Shop has moved to the city's southeast neighborhood from Cerulean City in Kanto, but demand has not been very strong. Realizing that you have a lot of traveling to do, the owner offers to loan you a Bicycle in the hopes that the advertising will increase interest, and business will pick up. Riding the bike is faster than traveling on foot, and he gains new customers—everybody's happy!

Game Corner
At Goldenrod Game Corner, players can win coins by playing the new Voltorb Flip game. The game features a 5×5 grid of tiles, underneath which are numbers (which multiply the current score) and Voltorb (which Selfdestruct, dropping the score to zero). The total number of points and Voltorb in each set of five cards is noted on the edge of the field. The game advances to more difficult levels once all of the 2× and 3× multipliers have been found. Higher levels give the player a chance to win several hundred coins at a time, which can be redeemed for prizes. Talk to Mr. Game to receive a Coin Case, and start saving up!

Goldenrod Tunnel
Route 36
The Goldenrod Tunnel runs north-south under the west side of the city, with a small access hallway leading to the basement of the Department Store. The underground hallway houses three shops and a photo booth.

36 is a unique stretch of land, as the only route in the game to link five different locations together. On the side that connects to Violet City, you can speak to the man to receive 06 if you have not done so already. On Thursdays, Arthur of the Week Siblings can be found here; speaking to him will result in a Hard Stone on the first meeting.

The northern Goldenrod Tunnel is only open on Monday mornings, from 4:00am to 9:59am. This merchant deals in valuable items; while having no use themselves, they can be resold elsewhere for decent profit. Each of these items may only be purchased once per week.

The Odd Tree
Pokémon Salon
East of the park, that odd tree is still blocking the narrow trail from every direction. Floria, from Goldenrod's Flower Shop, suggests watering it with the SquirtBottle, which causes it to attack! It turns out to be a Sudowoodo, a Pokémon more akin to a rock than a Grass. SAVE your game before trying to catch it.
The Pokémon Salon, the center shop, is operated by two brothers. Their services will raise a Pokémon's friendship, though at different rates. The younger brotherSuWeFr charges pdollar300, while the older brotherTuThSa charges pdollar500. Their shop is closed on Mondays.

Herb Shop
The Herb Shop, the southernmost shop, sells medicinal herbs that heal or revive Pokémon and are less expensive than their traditional counterparts. The downside is that Pokémon do not enjoy their bitter taste, so their friendship rating will decrease slightly as a result. This shop is only open on Saturdays and Sundays.

Once the path is clear, Floria gives you the Berry Pots, a set of four handy containers that allow Berry growth while traveling. She also gives out three Oran Berries and three Pecha Berries before returning to the Flower Shop.

Bill's House
Route 37
Bill, the inventor of the Pokémon PC Storage system, lives on the waterfront with his mother and sister. He is currently away on business in Ecruteak City, but since you are using his storage system, his sister gives out his phone number. Calling Bill is a useful way of checking the number of Pokémon stored in the current Box.

After meeting him in Ecruteak, he returns home to Goldenrod. Stop by his house afterwards to receive a Eevee from him.
37 is home to a secluded grove of Apricorn trees, which produces Red, Blu, and Blk varieties. On Sundays, Sunny of the Week Siblings can be found south of the grove. Speaking to her will result in a Magnet on the first meeting.

Name Rater
{| class="expandable" align="center" style="background: #; roundy; border: 5px solid #;"
The Name Rater lives in the house to the west of the Goldenrod Gym. Like his counterpart in Lavender Town, he evaluates a Pokémon's nickname, and allows the Trainer to think up new nicknames for them.
|- align="center"

Mood Tester
The Goldenrod City in the house near the Bike Shop will evaluate the friendship rating of your lead Pokémon. There are Friendship, like Espeon and Umbreon, that can only be acquired when happy with their Trainer. There are Friendship that can be done to raise a Pokémon's friendship, like Haircut brothers it, feeding it vitamins, or simply walking with it.

Global Terminal
The Global Terminal is located west of the Radio Tower. Inside, Trainers can interact with others from around the world. Trainers can trade, share pictures of their dressed-up Pokémon and PC Boxes, and share Battle Videos taken with the Vs. Recorder.

Radio Tower
The Radio Tower stands tall directly aside of the train station. Every day, the Pokémon Lottery Corner on 1F draws a lucky number. If this number matches the OT number of any of your Pokémon, then you win a prize! The grand prize is a Master, while other prizes include a Max Revive, Exp. Share, PP Up, and Ultra.

Speak to another woman behind the counter to play a promotional quiz game. Answer all five questions correctly to win a Pokégear for the Pokégear. Once installed, you can tune into the following programs.

Ecruteak City
Magnet Train Station
Welcome to Ecruteak, a historical city where the past meets the present. The city is shrouded in mystery, as all but Celebi of the region's legendary Pokémon have ties to the area. Unique landmarks include the Ecruteak Gym, Kimono Dance Theater, and the twin towers; the Burned Tower in the west, and the Bell Tower in the east.
The Magnet Train Station is located next to the Radio Tower. Currently shut down, this bullet train normally travels between Johto's Goldenrod and Kanto's Saffron twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The other major method of travel between regions—sailing on the S.S. Aqua—runs much less frequently, making the Magnet Train the ideal method of transportation.

Goldenrod Department Store
{| class="expandable" style="margin: auto; background: #BFA26B; roundy; border: 5px solid #CDB891;"
Located just east of the Pokémon Center, the Goldenrod Department Store is the largest shop in Johto. The behemoth building consists of eight floors, including the rooftop and basement, and has a wide array of items up for sale.

Meet Bill
Stop by the Pokémon Center to meet Bill, the inventor of the PC Storage System. He talks about improving the Pokémon trading and storage systems with his friends, especially Lanette of the Hoenn region. From this point on, Wi-Fi capabilities are now enabled for all Pokémon Centers. He then leaves for his home in Goldenrod, where you can visit him to receive an Eevee. Eevee is a rare Pokémon that can evolve into one of seven variations.

Treasure Hunting
Visit the house next to the Gym, and speak to the man inside. He gives you the Dowsing MCHN, a handy tool that reacts to hidden items lying nearby.

Kimono Dance Theater
As you enter the building, one of the Kimono Girls is onstage, yelling at the Rocket Grunt for harassing her. Beat the troublemaker and he runs off, and an old man from the audience rewards you with 03 as you exit the stage.

Bell Tower
The Bell Tower is a sacred place, and is off-limits to all but a few people. Ecruteak's Fog Badge grants access to the building, but no higher than the first floor. A pair of special items, the Rainbow Wing and Clear Bell, are required to reach the rest of the tower.

Burned Tower
The charred, crumbling ruins of the Burned Tower can be found in the city's northwest district. Formerly known as the Brass Tower, it was once as majestic as the Bell Tower to the east. Built 700 years ago, it was said to be the roost of Lugia. But 150 years ago, the tower was struck by a lightning bolt that ignited a fire that raged for three days. The silver Pokémon and Ho-Oh that roosted on the Bell Tower escaped to the skies unharmed, and a sudden downpour quenched the fire. The silver Pokémon flew off, while the rainbow Pokémon resurrected three nameless Pokémon that perished in the blaze before flying off as well.

There are two people near the entrance who are investigating the ruins. One is Morty, the Ecruteak Gym Leader, and the other is Eusine, Morty's friend and researcher focusing on the legendary beasts. Both are well-versed in the local legends, and Eusine has even dedicated his life to tracking and meeting Suicune. He may be close to his goal, as three regal-looking Pokémon can be seen through the charred hole in the floor, standing motionless on the lower level. Once the two have explained the legend of the tower, head north to meet Silver.

The Goldenrod Gym specializes in Normal Pokémon. Only Fighting Pokémon have an advantage here, so trading for that Machop in the Department Store can make things much easier. The Gym is designed like a Clefairy, and challengers must navigate around the raised platform to reach the Gym Leader.

Whitney's Clefairy does not post much of a challenge, but her Miltank is a troublemaker. Ghost Pokémon are typically unaffected by Normal moves, but Miltank's Scrappy ability nullifies this immunity. Its Attract causes Status ailment, which restricts opposite-gender foes to attacking only 50% of the time, and Milk Drink allows it to restore its HP. Bayleef and Croconaw should be able to stand up to Miltank, but Quilava will have trouble thanks to its Rollout move. Try using status ailments, like Status ailment or Status ailment, to take it down.

This is the Bulbapedia walkthrough for Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.
These pages follow the remade Nintendo DS iteration, not Pokémon Gold and Silver. The guide for those games can be found here.

National Park (optional)

The National Park connecting Route 35 and Route 36 is a haven for Bug- and Grass-type Pokémon.

A Pokémon's value is determined by its level, IVs, remaining HP, and how likely it was to appear.

Route 36

Route 36

Route 36 is a unique stretch of land, as the only route in the game to link five different locations together. On the side that connects to Violet City, you can speak to the man to receive HM06 (Rock Smash) if you have not done so already. On Thursdays, Arthur of the Week Siblings can be found here; speaking to him will result in a Hard Stone on the first meeting.

The Odd Tree

East of the park, that odd tree is still blocking the narrow trail from every direction. Floria, from Goldenrod's Flower Shop, suggests watering it with the SquirtBottle, which causes it to attack! It turns out to be a Sudowoodo, a Pokémon more akin to a rock than a tree. SAVE your game before trying to catch it.

Once the path is clear, Floria gives you the Berry Pots, a set of four handy containers that allow Berry growth while traveling. She also gives out three Oran Berries and three Pecha Berries before returning to the Flower Shop.

Route 37

Route 37

Route 37 is home to a secluded grove of Apricorn trees, which produces Red, Blu, and Blk varieties. On Sundays, Sunny of the Week Siblings can be found south of the grove. Speaking to her will result in a Magnet on the first meeting.

Ecruteak City

Ecruteak City

Welcome to Ecruteak, a historical city where the past meets the present. The city is shrouded in mystery, as all but one of the region's legendary Pokémon have ties to the area. Unique landmarks include the Ecruteak Gym, Kimono Dance Theater, and the twin towers; the Burned Tower in the west, and the Bell Tower in the east.

Beat the troublemaker and he runs off, and an old man from the audience rewards you with HM03 (Surf) as you exit the stage.

Burned Tower, 1F
Burned Tower, B1F

The charred, crumbling ruins of the Burned Tower can be found in the city's northwest district. Formerly known as the Brass Tower, it was once as majestic as the Bell Tower to the east. Built 700 years ago, it was said to be the roost of a silver-colored Pokémon. But 150 years ago, the tower was struck by a lightning bolt that ignited a fire that raged for three days. The silver Pokémon and the rainbow-hued Pokémon that roosted on the Bell Tower escaped to the skies unharmed, and a sudden downpour quenched the fire. The silver Pokémon flew off, while the rainbow Pokémon resurrected three nameless Pokémon that perished in the blaze before flying off as well.

1F

There are two people near the entrance who are investigating the ruins. One is Morty, the Ecruteak Gym Leader, and the other is Eusine, Morty's friend and researcher focusing on the legendary beasts. Both are well-versed in the local legends, and Eusine has even dedicated his life to tracking and meeting Suicune. He may be close to his goal, as three regal-looking Pokémon can be seen through the charred hole in the floor, standing motionless on the lower level. Once the two have explained the legend of the tower, head north to meet Silver.
