An appealing move that can be used repeatedly without boring the audience.

Psystrike (Japanese: サイコブレイク Psycho Break) is a damage-dealing Psychic-type move introduced in Generation V. It is the signature move of Mewtwo.

Effect

151Mew.png This move effect may be in need of research.
Reason: Interaction with Defense or Special Defense change from stat stage and others (stat-increasing Abilities and items).
You can discuss this on the talk page.

Psystrike inflicts damage. Psystrike uses the target's Defense instead of its Special Defense to calculate damage. Otherwise, it is considered a special move: it uses the user's Special Attack, activates Mirror Coat and Maranga Berry (not Counter or Kee Berry), has its damage reduced by Light Screen (not Reflect), etc.

Trivia

  • Despite being Mewtwo's signature move, it was introduced in Generation V, in which Mewtwo could not be obtained except by Poké Transfer or Nintendo events.
  • Psystrike has the same description text as Psyshock.
  • In Conquest, this move has the same description as in Generation V of the core series, including the mention of it dealing physical damage. However, the split of physical and special damage does not exist in Conquest - there is only one attack stat and one defense stat, so all damage is in the same, single category.
