A Maranga Berry (Japanese: タラプのみ Tarapu Fruit) is a type of Berry introduced in Generation VI.
In the core series games
A Maranga Berry raises the holder's Special Defense by one stage when hit by a special move. This consumes the Maranga Berry. If the holder has Ripen, then its Special Defense rises by two stages.
|Maranga Berries are blue Berries in Group 3. If blended with a Kee Berry, it will become Perilous Soup, resetting the drinker's EVs to 0.
|Maranga Berries have a rarity of 10.
|If held by a Pokémon, this Berry will increase the holder's Sp. Def if it's hit with a special move.
|If a Pokémon holding this Berry is hit with a special move, the holder’s Sp. Def stat will be boosted.
|A slightly rare Berry. Its outside is very bitter, but its inside tastes like a sweet drink.
Pokémon X and Y
A Maranga plant will yield 1-10 Berries. During its growth, watering the plant adds 0.2 Berries to the final harvest, weeding it adds 0.1, and removing a pest adds 1. Maranga plants attract Volbeat as pests.
Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire
A Maranga plant will yield 2-13 Berries.
Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon
A Maranga plant will yield 2 Berries if Isle Aplenny is at Phase 1, 5 Berries if it is at Phase 2, and 8 Berries if it is at Phase 3.
- Excluding Berries with adjectives in their name, it has the longest name of a Berry in English, with seven letters.
The Maranga Berry's design and name may be based on a marang.
