TM28 (Dig) made a brief appearance in File 2: Cubone, where Red retrieved it from a Team Rocket Grunt who had stolen it.
Trivia
- In games where Cinnabar Gym contains a quiz, the final question of that quiz asks whether TM28 contains a particular move, and proposes a nonexistent, humorously over-the-top move name that varies by language:
- Along with TM21 and TM43, this is one of the few TMs unobtainable in both Colosseum and XD outside of trades.
- In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, TM28 is the only TM that can only be obtained once and cannot be purchased repeatedly through the Grand Underground merchants, in the Veilstone Department Store, or from the Shard collector on Route 212.
