In the anime

A Fossilized Fish in the anime

A Fossilized Fish appeared in A Pinch of This, a Pinch of That!, where Ash, Goh, and Chloe helped Cara Liss and Bray Zenn to dig it up in the Wild Area. It was later combined with a Fossilized Drake and restored into a Dracovish.

In the anime, the appearances of Fossilized Drake and Fish are swapped, making them match the Pokémon they are supposed to restore.

Main article: Rare Fossil (Darkness Ablaze 167)

A Fossilized Fish is featured in the Pokémon Trading Card Game on the Rare Fossil Item card included in the Darkness Ablaze expansion, first released in the Japanese Infinity Zone expansion. Although it is a Trainer card, it is played as if it were a Colorless-type Basic Pokémon, meaning the player's opponent takes a Prize card when it is Knocked Out. However, Rare Fossil can't be affected by any Special Conditions, can't retreat, and the player may choose to discard it at any time during their turn. It can evolve into any of the Generation VIII Fossil Pokémon: Dracozolt, Arctozolt, Dracovish, or Arctovish.

This card's effect is similar to that of Mysterious Fossil and Unidentified Fossil.

Trivia

  • In Pokémon Sword and Shield, the Fossilized Fish and Fossilized Drake appear to have mistakenly swapped sprites. The Fossilized Fish offers the "-vish" head for Dracovish and Arctovish but visually looks like the body provided by the Fossilized Drake. In the anime, their appearances are the opposite of their game sprites.
  • The Pokémon revived from the Fossilized Fish have 10 extra points in their Defense and Special Defense Stats, and 10 fewer points in their Attack and Special Attack stats, compared to their counterparts revived from the Fossilized Bird.
