Walkthrough:Pokémon Diamond and Pearl/Part 8
These pages follow the original Nintendo DS iteration, not Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The guide for those games can be found here.
Hearthome City

Hearthome City lies at the intersection of Route 208 to the west, Route 209 to the east, and Route 212 to the south. This friendly city started as a place where people and Pokémon gathered, before eventually growing into a center of commerce. Each year, it is consistently voted the most desirable place to live in Sinnoh. Trainers visit from around the region to challenge the Hearthome Gym, take part in Super Contests, and bake Poffins at the Poffin House. A building in the southwest offers people a place for quiet reflection on the joys of Pokémon and the natural world.

Runaway Rabbit!
Soon after entering the city, a Buneary rushes up to you. It seems that the fleet-footed Pokémon has gotten away from its Trainer, who catches up to it a moment later. The woman quickly recalls the Pokémon to its Poké Ball before introducing herself as Keira, a Pokémon Contest Judge. She asks that you visit the Contest Hall so that she may thank you properly, then leaves to the east.
Hearthome Hotel
The Hearthome Hotel is a two-level building in the southeast part of the city. Speak to the woman staying with her Clefairy on the second floor to receive a Shell Bell.
Pokémon Fan Club
The Pokémon Fan Club building is located in the southeast part of the city, just west of the Hearthome Hotel. Speak to the Chairman, who explains a bit about Poffins before giving you your own Poffin Case. This container can store up to 100 of the baked goods, which are used to improve a Pokémon's condition before competing in a Super Contest. Pokémon prefer different flavors of Poffin based on their Nature.
Poffin House
The Poffin House is located just west of the Poké Mart. This is the place to go for any Trainers hoping to make their own Poffins. Speak to the woman next to the table on the left to operate the appliance. By adding Berries and stirring the mixture, Poffins are cooked over a hot element. The level of the Poffin depends on both the Trainer's mixing technique, and the number of people making Poffins at the same time. Stir too slow, and the mixture burns; stir too fast, and it spills out of the bowl. To achieve the maximum quality Poffin, Trainers must work together with friends over local wireless and the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
Please note: As of 2014, online connectivity is no longer supported.
Mr. Goods Has Got the Goods
Speak to the Artist near the Poffin House, and he identifies himself by his nickname, Mr. Goods. He promises to find something rare for you, and asks that you speak to him some other time. After meeting certain conditions, he rewards Trainers with special decorations for their Secret Base.
Bebe's House
The house next to the Pokémon Center belongs to a young woman named Bebe. An expert computer technician, it was she who designed Sinnoh's version of Pokémon Storage System based on the previous designs of other experts. After meeting her here, the Pokémon Storage System is now identified as Bebe's PC.
Meet Fantina
The Super Contest Hall is a large, domed building on the north side of the city. Outside the building, you find a woman dressed in purple standing in front of the entrance. She apologizes before asking if you intend to enter a Super Contest, and mentions that the local Gym Leader happens to be a Contest expert. The woman introduces herself as Fantina—that same local Gym Leader—but states that you must become much stronger before you can challenge her. She then leaves to the south.
Super Contest Hall
Upon entering the Super Contest Hall, you run into Mom and Keira. Keira is amazed that the two of you are related, and wonders aloud if you might be a Contest star, as well. As thanks for stopping her Buneary, Keira gives you a Glitter Powder Accessory. She invites you to take part in a Super Contest sometime, then leaves to attend to her duties. Afterward, Mom explains that she grew bored at home, and so traveled to Hearthome for a little vacation. She says that if you are serious about entering Contests, you have to dress up just like your Pokémon, and gifts you a new Tuxedo♂ or Dress♀. She tells you to enjoy the Contests, then exits the building.
Before leaving, speak to the man in front of the middle counter. He asks if you will be entering a Contest, and notices that you have a Poffin Case. He gifts you a Mild Poffin, and suggests taking practice sessions at the counter on the right.
Amity Square
Amity Square is a park on the north side of the city, where Trainers can walk alongside their Pokémon. While doing so, Trainers can check their Pokémon's mood, and Pokémon may occasionally find Berries or Accessories for their Trainer. The park is open only to certain small and cute-looking Pokémon.
Rival Battle 2
Upon returning to the south side of town and leaving the fenced-in area, you are approached again by Barry. He has been hoping to see how much stronger the two of you have become, and challenges you to another battle.

After the battle, Barry promises to keep getting tougher. He tells you that he intends to challenge the Veilstone Gym next before running off.
A Joyful Gift
Speak to the Hiker near the southeast exit to learn of a Pokémon Egg in his possession. He explains that it was found at the Day Care in Solaceon Town, and asks if you would like to have it instead. To receive the Egg, there must be no more than five Pokémon in your party. The Egg will eventually hatch into a Happiny.
Route 209

Route 209 leads northeast from Hearthome City to Solaceon Town. The babbling streams on this path wind their way past groups of trees and patches of grass alike. The Lost Tower is located in the northeast.

Get Good with a Good Rod
Speak to the Fisherman on the southwestern-most bridge, near the Hearthome City gate. Agree with his assertion that Good Rods are indeed good, and he gives you one of your own. Afterward, he offers to explain how to use this mid-level fishing rod to reel in Water-type Pokémon.
Hallowed Tower
The Hallowed Tower is a crumbling stone structure located in the southeast part of the route, on sandy ground at the edge of the stream. Upon setting an Odd Keystone into the ruins, a short inscription appears. This keystone appears to have some connection to the Underground, as the inscription varies based on the number of other Trainers that you have spoken with while exploring the subterranean network. As this number rises, the sequence of messages seems to indicate the presence of a spirit attempting to manifest itself inside the ruins.
| # | Inscription |
| 0-7 | "It appears to have been built many years ago." |
| 8-14 | "Its stones appear to have shifted..." |
| 15-21 | "...Is that crying coming from inside the tower?" |
| 22-28 | "Is the tower shaking ever so slightly?" |
| 29-31 | "There is some sort of presence... It appears ready to emerge!" |
| 32+ | "Yulaaah!" |
VS Spiritomb
Examine the ruins after speaking to 32 or more other Trainers, and the spirit finally appears! If defeated or run from, Spiritomb will reappear after completing the same steps again.

Lost Tower

Lost Tower was built to house the graves of departed Pokémon. Many grieving Trainers visit to pay their respects, while other thrill-seeking Trainers can be found hunting for Ghost-type Pokémon.

There are two paths to the next set of stairs. Take the longer path around the edge of the room, or the shorter path to battle Youngster Oliver and collect the Oval Stone.
3F
Collect the Revive in the southwest corner, near Roughneck Kirby, then continue on to 4F.
4F
Take the outer path past Pokéfan Rebekah and Belle & Pa Beth & Bob to reach TM27 (Return) in the southern part of the room. Climb the stairs to the fifth floor.
5F
Two elderly caretakers can be found on the top floor. Speak to the woman on the right to receive a Cleanse Tag, which helps to ward off wild Pokémon when held. Speak to the woman on the left, and she thanks you for visiting the departed spirits. To show her appreciation, she hands you HM04 (Strength). When used in the field, this move allows the user to move large boulders with ease.
