Walkthrough:Pokémon Diamond and Pearl/Part 7

This is the Bulbapedia walkthrough for Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.
These pages follow the original Nintendo DS iteration, not Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The guide for those games can be found here.

Route 206

Route 206

Route 206 is a lengthy stretch of land that connects Eterna City in the north with Route 207 in the south. A large overpass known as Cycling Road descends as it moves southward, allowing Cyclists to reach great speeds on the way downhill. Two separate entrances to Wayward Cave are located in the valley below.

Sharing the Spoils

Inside the north gate, you find Dawn's/Lucas' father. He has been sent on an errand by Professor Rowan, and instructed to deliver an item to help you on your journey. If the Pokédex counts at least 35 Pokémon as "Seen", he gifts you an Exp. Share. When held by a Pokémon, this item awards it 50% of the total amount of experience earned when an opposing Pokémon faints. The remaining 50% is evenly distributed between all remaining Pokémon who participated in the battle. It's a great way to help train Pokémon that may initially struggle in battle, like Abra and Magikarp.

Wayward Cave

Wayward Cave, 1F

Wayward Cave is a sprawling network of tunnels beneath the mountains of the northern part of Route 206. The entrance to 1F can be seen to the east of Cycling Road; this level is littered with rocky debris that must be cleared with Rock Smash to proceed. A second entrance leading to B1F lies to the west, obscured by the overpass. The lower level is blocked off by several large boulders, and is inaccessible without a way to move them. Both levels are very dark, so Flash is needed to light the way.

Treasure Hunting

Go north-northwest and use Rock Smash to pass the first patch of rocky debris. Continue north-northwest to clear the second patch. Move north, then west to reach the third patch of debris. Next, turn southwestward to reach the fourth patch. From this point, moving east leads to Hiker Reginald and Hiker Lorenzo; moving west leads to Lass Cassidy and Youngster Wayne. Defeat Cassidy and Wayne to reach TM32 (Double Team) in the dead-end to the west. Backtrack to the third debris patch, then go north and west. Use Rock Smash again before heading south; defeat Camper Diego and Picnicker Tori here to reach the Rare Candy at the end of the northwest tunnel. Follow the northern tunnel eastward, then turn south to reach an Escape Rope. Continue southeastward through three more patches of debris. Go northeastward to reach a fork in the road; Collector Terry and Ruin Maniac Gerald can be battled in the dead-end path to the south. Take the north tunnel to reach a larger chamber in the northeast, where you meet a girl named Mira.

It’s Dangerous to Go Alone

Mira explains that she got lost while she was hunting for new Pokémon to catch. She's too scared to go alone and begs you to help her find the exit, promising to keep your Pokémon fully healed in the meantime. Like with Cheryl in Eterna Forest, Mira and her Kadabra will assist in each battle, turning all wild battles into Double Battles, and all Trainer battles that may otherwise be Double Battles into Multi Battles. Backtrack to the exit, and before stepping outside, Mira promises to get tougher so she is not such a scaredy cat.

Route 207

Route 207

Route 207 connects Route 206 to the north with Oreburgh City to the south. It also leads to the southwestern of four entrances to Mt. Coronet. Although it was first accessible when approaching from the south, it was impossible to fully explore the area without a Bicycle.

More Money, More Treasure

Immediately upon reaching Route 207, you are met by Dawn/Lucas. The young Trainer first asks about your Pokédex progress, then reveals that she/he has a gift for you, and asks you to choose which hand it might be in. Regardless of your choice, she/he gives you the Vs. Seeker. This device allows you to see which nearby Trainers may be looking for a rematch. Dawn/Lucas then asks if you have a Pokétch, and gifts you the Dowsing Machine app for all of your hard work. Tapping anywhere on the radar screen sends out a ping that reveals any hidden items in the vicinity. The young Trainer reaffirms her/his commitment to completing the Pokédex, and leaves to the north.

Mt. Coronet

1F (South)

Mt. Coronet, 1F (South)

The sacred Mt. Coronet is the tallest mountain in Sinnoh, and part of a mountain range that divides the region in half. Due to its scale, an extensive tunnel system was developed in order to facilitate travel, and now connects many important cities together.

A Mysterious Man

Go southeast to reach a stairway leading to the middle of the chamber. Here, you are approached by a mysterious man with blue hair. He tells you of a myth that identifies Mt. Coronet as the point where the Sinnoh region began. He imagines a newly-created world, where only time flowed and space expanded. In such a world, he says, there should have been no strife, but the weak and incomplete human spirit has only caused it to spread instead. He blames this weakness for ruining the world, and seems determined to do something about it. The man then pushes past you and leaves to the west. Once he has left, continue eastward to reach the exit.

Route 208

Route 208

Route 208 links the southeast entrance to Mt. Coronet with Hearthome City in the east. Moving eastward, the rugged terrain gives way to lush fields of grass, creating a striking contrast.

Berry Master's house

A Berry A Day

The only house on the route belongs to an elderly man known as the Berry Master. He enjoys giving out Berries in order for people to learn how wonderful they are. Speak to him each day to receive a Berry. The variety received is determined randomly, and may be one of the following thirty.

Cheri Berry Cheri Berry Chesto Berry Chesto Berry Pecha Berry Pecha Berry Rawst Berry Rawst Berry Aspear Berry Aspear Berry

Much Ado About Mulch

The Berry Master's wife offers different types of Mulch for sale. Mulch may be used before planting Berries in soft soil to promote healthy growth in various ways.

Item Price Effect
Growth Mulch Growth Mulch $200 Berry plant matures in 75% of the usual time, but soil dries out 50% faster
Damp Mulch Damp Mulch $200 Soil dries out 50% slower, but Berry plant takes 150% of the usual time to mature
Stable Mulch Stable Mulch $200 Ripe Berries remain on plant for 150% of the usual time before dropping off
Gooey Mulch Gooey Mulch $200 New Berry plants regrow from dead plants 150% of the usual number of times

Forget Me Not

Speak to the little girl, and she asks if you are the type to forget where Berries are planted. Agree, and she excitedly states that she is the same way, and gifts you the Berry Searcher app to help you. This displays a map of the Sinnoh region, and marks the location of any Berry tree in previously visited areas that bears mature fruit that is ready to be picked. Tapping the screen refreshes the display.
