Walkthrough:Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl/Part 16

This is the Bulbapedia walkthrough for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
These pages follow the remade Nintendo Switch iteration, not Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The guide for those games can be found here.

Jubilife City

Pass through Jubilife City on your way west toward Canalave City. If you have not yet picked up the Old Rod, the Fisher standing in the gate between Jubilife City and Route 218 will give it to you. The Old Rod allows you to fish for Magikarp in any body of water.

Route 218

Route 218 runs west from Jubilife City to Canalave City along the coast. The western half is separated by water and requires Surf to cross. Mr. Mime is found in the grass here in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, while Glameow appears in its place in Pokémon Shining Pearl. A Rare Candy is in the northeast corner of the western land section, requiring Surf to reach.

Canalave City

Canalave City is a port city connected by a drawbridge. When you arrive, your rival Barry is waiting on the bridge and challenges you to a battle. His team now includes Heracross.

Turtwig
If the player chose Turtwig:

After the battle, explore the city before continuing on to Iron Island and the Canalave Gym, covered in Part 17. The first house on the east side of the canal gives you TM48 (Skill Swap) x3. TM89 (U-turn) is found at the south end of the canal and requires Surf to reach. The Move Deleter is located on the east side of the city and can remove any move from your Pokémon for free.

Grand Underground

From Canalave City we can now reach a new section of the Grand Underground.

Sunlit Cavern

The Sunlit Cavern is a forest-themed Pokémon Hideaway in the Grand Underground featuring a variety of Grass-, Bug-, Normal-, and Fighting-type Pokémon not found in other biomes. It is particularly notable for Tropius, a rare Grass/Flying-type Pokémon found nowhere else in Sinnoh. Kecleon, with its Color Change ability that shifts its type to match any move that hits it, is a Pokémon Brilliant Diamond-exclusive encounter here. Munchlax, the pre-evolution of Snorlax, becomes available after you have obtained the Defog TM. The grass starters Pokémon from other regions, Bulbasaur, Chikorita, and Treecko, can be found roaming here after unlocking the National Pokédex.

This article is part of Project Walkthroughs, a Bulbapedia project that aims to write comprehensive step-by-step guides on each Pokémon game.
