Slicing move

Razor Leaf in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

A slicing move (Japanese: 切(き)る技(わざ) slicing move) is any move that is based on slicing. Slicing moves have some unique properties and effects. The mechanic was introduced in Generation IX.

Slicing moves like Slash have existed since Generation I, but in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, slicing became a mechanic.

In the core series games, slicing moves have the following interactions:

• Sharpness increases the power of slicing moves by 50%.
• In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, all slicing moves can be used to clear brambles. This property is not exclusive to slicing moves.
