In the anime
Tyrogue's first appearance was in A Tyroge Full of Trouble. It was abandoned by its previous trainer and left to fend for its own. Because of this it developed a hatred towards humans. Tyrogue ended up forming a gang of Mankey and Primeape and together they would steal from weary travelers, such as Ash and co. But thanks to a tranier named Nobuhiko, who had been persuing it, Tyrogue formed a trust with humans and ended up becoming his newest Pokémon.

Trivia
Tyrogue is the second Pokémon to evolve into more than two different Pokémon. The first one of course being Eevee.
Origin
Name origin
Tyrogue's name is a combination of tyke, meaning child, and rogue, one who is playfully mischievous. Its Japanese name is probably a corruption of the English word bulky, an adjective describing something large for its weight.
