Trivia

At Brazil, a weird flaw appeared at the Anime's dub: When Ash's Sceptile was a Grovyle, the Leaf Blade attack was correctly translated; however, after the evolution, Leaf Blade was incorrectly translated; the name now used actually matches Razor Leaf's traslation instead.

Origin

Appearance-wise, this Pokémon resembles the dinosaur known as dilophosaurus.

Name origin

Sceptile's name is a play on reptile and sceptre, perhaps refering to the golden seeds on its back. Its Japanese name may be based on 樹海 jukai, abundant leafage. Sceptile's French name is a combination of jungle and gecko.
