Science Club Emblem in Pokémon Trading Card Game 2: The Invasion of Team GR!

The Science Club (Japanese: サイエンスクラブ Science Club) is a group of Trainers who use Grass-type Pokémon in the Pokémon Trading Card Game. It is led by Rick. It appears to be the male counterpart of the Grass Club, because the Science Club has only men and the Grass Club has only women; both clubs use Grass-type cards.

It is likely that the Science Club was created due to the fact that, at the time of the game's release, there were only seven TCG types— one short of the eight that were needed for a game that was like the core series Pokémon games, and, due to the additional double usage of the Fighting-type by both the Fighting Club and Rock Club, the hesitance to use Colorless as a club type.

It should also be noted that even though most of their cards are of the Grass type from the TCG, most of the Pokémon they use are of the Poison type in the main games.

Pokémon Trading Card Game

Rick may only be battled after Joseph has been defeated. Players who are able to defeat Rick will receive the Science Medal and two booster packs.

If Imakuni?'s event has been activated, each time the save file is loaded, there is a 25% chance Imakuni? will appear at the lounge room and can be battled once.

Pokémon Trading Card Game 2: The Invasion of Team GR!

At the beginning of the game, Rick is being held captive at the GR Grass Fort. The player can come here to challenge David to an optional battle in the side room.

If the player is male, GR2 will appear in the main hall of the club for battle after acquiring the Give In! Anti-GR2 Deck from Grass Club Master Nikki. After GR2's defeat, both the Grass Club and the Science Club are freed simultaneously. David will battle using the same deck from the side room. If the Water Club has already been freed before liberating the Science Club, Joseph will also agree to battle. Erik will battle players who have completed the GR Coin.

Later, when the player frees Rick after defeating Midori at the GR Grass Fort, he will be available for battle with his deck, with slightly different prizes later in the game.
