Grass (TCG)
The Grass type (Japanese: 草 Grass) is one of the eleven TCG types. It is represented by the color green, and symbolized by a leaf.
The Grass type contains most Grass- and Bug-type Pokémon found in the main series video games. For example, Sceptile and Beedrill are both Grass types in the TCG.
Prior to the Diamond & Pearl set, the Grass type also contained all Poison-type Pokémon found in the main series video games. For example, Muk and Weezing were Grass types in the TCG. Poison-type Pokémon were subsequently assigned to the Psychic type beginning with the Diamond & Pearl set until the Sword & Shield set, when they were then reassigned to Darkness.
The corresponding Basic Energy card is Basic Grass Energy. Where the
symbol appears in an attack cost, it indicates that a Grass Energy must be attached to the Pokémon in order for the Pokémon to use that attack.
Battle properties
Generally, Grass Pokémon have a weakness to:
- Fire, if the Pokémon is Grass- or Bug-type in the games

- Fighting, if the Pokémon is a Bug/Poison-type Pokémon (prior to the Expedition Base Set and in the Secret Wonders expansion) or Flying-type in the games
- Water, if the Pokémon is Grass-type (from the e-Card Series to the Legendary Treasures expansion) in the games
These types are generally weak to Grass Pokémon:
- Water (prior to the Sword & Shield expansion)
- Fighting, if the Pokémon is Ground- or Rock-type in the games
- Darkness, if the Pokémon is Dark-type (from the Sword & Shield expansion onwards) in the games
