Trivia

  • Mime Jr.'s US name was revealed on May 28, 2006, the same day that Weavile's name was revealed.
  • Mime Jr. is one of three Pokémon on the player's team in the demo version of Diamond and Pearl.
  • Mime Jr. is one of the few baby Pokémon with a wide moveset, learning its last move on level 50. Other baby Pokémon rarely learn any moves past level 20.
  • To date, Mime Jr. is the only Pokémon with a catch rate of 145.
  • Mime Jr. is one of eight Pokémon whose name has a non-alphabetic character in it, the others being Nidoran♀, Nidoran♂, Farfetch'd, Mr. Mime, Porygon2, Ho-Oh and Porygon-Z.
    • Its evolutionary line is the only one in which every Pokémon has a non-alphabetic character.
  • In HeartGold and SoulSilver, if the player has a Mime Jr. as their partner in Copycat's room, the Mime Jr. will "mimic" the player when interacted with.

Origin

Mime Jr. is based on a mime and a clown. Mime Jr. also looks like ice cream in a cone with whipped cream at the top.

Name origin

Mime Jr.'s name is based on that of its evolved form, Mr. Mime. Its Japanese name, Manene, is based on 真似 mane, mimicry. The -nene in its name could come from nene, Spanish for boy.
