Lairon (Japanese: コドラ Kodora) is a dual-type Steel/Rock Pokémon.
It evolves from Aron starting at level 32, and evolves into Aggron starting at level 42.
Biology
Physiology
Lairon has a striking resemblence to Rhyhorn. It has a Steel armor spine with black spots running along its back.

Special abilities
Behavior
Lairon are known to show off their strength when they bash into rocks, the sparks that are released seemingly show their strength. When two Lairon meet each other they will fight for territory by also bashing into each other.
Habitat
Lairon live in caves that are rich in iron ore.

Lairon usually eat rocks that contain iron and drink mineral water.
In the anime
Lairon's first appearance was in A Fan with a Plan and Cruisin' for a Losin'. It was owned by a Pokémon Coordinator named Savannah and used in a Pokémon Contest against May's Bulbasaur.
Lairon also made a cameo in Numero Uno Articuno as a Pokémon belonging to Noland.
Lairon, together with its evolutionary family Aron and Aggron, appeared in Giratina and the Sky Warrior where it helped Ash's friends to stop the glacier.
Lairon also appeared in Steeling Peace of Mind!.
Lairon also appeared in A Pyramiding Rage! under the ownership of Paul. It battled against Brandon's Regice, and after being hit and frozen by Regice's Ice Beam and being hit again by the latter's Zap Cannon, it was defeated quickly.

Lairon has an appearance similar to that of Placerias, a mammal-like reptile that lived in the Triassic period. It could also have been based on a metallic Rhyhorn.
Name origin
Lairon's name may be a combination of lairy, slang for aggressive, or lair, and iron. Its Japanese name may be a combination of 巨 ko, large, and dragon.
