Gravity (Japanese: じゅうりょく Gravity) is a non-damaging Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation IV.
Effect
Generation IV
Gravity causes the field (or floor in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time & Darkness) to undergo intense gravity. This effect lasts 5 turns.
Intense gravity prevents Pokémon from reaping Ground-type immunity through flying or levitating and makes those Pokémon vulnerable to Spikes, Toxic Spikes and Arena Trap.
Gravity also cancels and prevents moves that cause the user to become airborne, including Bounce, Fly, Splash, Jump Kick, Hi Jump Kick, and Magnet Rise. If a Pokémon is using Fly, Bounce, or is under the effect of Magnet Rise when Gravity comes into effect, the moves are canceled immediately.
Finally, Gravity also decreases the Evasion of all Pokémon in battle by two stages.
Generation V
Gravity cancels the effect of Telekinesis and prevents it from being used. Gravity also negates the effects of Air Balloon.
Gravity activates a glitch in double and triple battles that can cause a Pokémon to be stuck in the semi-invulnerable state of Sky Drop until it faints. It is activated when Gravity is used while two Pokémon are in the semi-invulnerable state of Sky Drop. Gravity will bring the user of Sky Drop down, while the target will be stuck in the semi-invulnerable state, unable to move, until it is knocked out.

Probopass narrows its eyes and the cap on the top of its head lowers slightly. Multiple black cicles of energy come out of the center of its nose and travel outwards. Then, all objects that are in the air are then forced to come down to the ground until the cap on Probopass's head raises once again. | |||

Trivia
- Arceus is the only Pokémon who learns Gravity in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum that is affected by it (though only when holding a Sky Plate).
- However, when Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver introduced a move tutor for Gravity, Lunatone, Solrock, Duskull, Baltoy, Claydol, Chimecho, Chingling, Bronzor, Bronzong, Giratina (Origin Forme), and Cresselia can all have their Levitate ability negated by a self-imposed Gravity.
- Magnemite, Magneton, Mew, Forretress, Nosepass, Metang, Metagross, Magnezone, Probopass, and Dialga can all learn Gravity and Magnet Rise, a move with the opposite effect of Gravity and which is negated by Gravity.
- Of these, Probopass is the only one who can learn both moves by leveling up; the others require a move tutor for at least one of them.
