In the anime, Route 106 is depicted as the sea surrounding Dewford Island, first appearing in Sharpedo Attack! when Ash and ashfr arrived on the island aboard Mr. Briney's boat.
While staying on Dewford Island, Ash and his friends spent a lot of time on Route 106. In Which Wurmple's Which?, Ash and May spent a while fishing at the coast. In A Hole Lotta Trouble, the group traveled through the route to meet Steven in Granite Cave. In Gone Corphishin, Ash caught his Corphish on Route 106. In A Meditite Fight!, the group encountered Battle Girl Shauna and reunited with Brawly, who agreed to have a rematch with Ash.
Ash and Brawly's rematch took place in Just One of the Geysers in a cave off the coast of Route 106, which serves as Brawly's private training area. By utilizing the geysers on the battlefield to his advantage, Ash was able to defeat Brawly and earn himself the Knuckle.

Route description
Route 106 is a short and quiet route. Most of it is water that the player can Surf on, while a part of it is sandy beach that is a part of the island where Dewford Town stands. The player will enter the route by surfing south of Route 105. The player will enter the route at the northern side, where they must surf, straight south, then east. They will reach a secluded strip of beach, where the player will find a Protein and nothing more as there is no way to get anywhere else other than to surf again. After that, by surfing further east, the player will reach the sandy shores of an island where Dewford Town can be located by traveling further south. On this beach there will be a Poké Ball, along with two other Trainers, both being Fishermen. Just west of this part is Granite Cave, while south is Dewford Town. If the player was still surfing along the coast, they will reach Dewford Town and a small port.

In animation
In the anime, Route 106 is depicted as the sea surrounding Dewford Island, first appearing in Sharpedo Attack! when Ash and his friends arrived on the island aboard Mr.
In Gone Corphishin', Ash caught his Corphish on Route 106.
By utilizing the geysers on the battlefield to his advantage, Ash was able to defeat Brawly and earn himself the Knuckle Badge.
