Ash enters the Twinleaf Festival's main event, a battle tournament. The grand prize offered is a chance to battle Palmer of the Battle Frontier.

Major events

• Ash learns of the Battle Frontier in Sinnoh and also learns of Palmer's Tower Tycoon status.
• Ash, Dawn, Brock and Barry all enter a tournament to battle Palmer. Ash wins the tournament but loses to Palmer.
• Ash discovers that his Grotle can receive a temporary power-up if it swallows an Energy Ball.
• Ash learns of a Gym in Sunyshore City and decides to head there after the Lilypad Town Contest.
• The Twinleaf Festival ends, and the group leaves Twinleaf Town.
