Mime Jr. (Japanese: マネネ Manene) is the pre-evolution of Mr. Mime.

Biology

Physiology

Mime Jr. is a small pink Pokémon with a black torso. Mime Jr. has a red bump on its stomach and a typical red clown nose on its face. Mime Jr. appears to be wearing a black, crooked hat with a white ball on it.

Mime Jr. has a knack for imitating others. It has been known to Mimic its foes in order to create distractions.

Mime Jr. first appeared in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew as Irene's pet.

James obtains a Mime Jr. in Sweet Baby James.

A Mime Jr. and a Bonsly that were stars of a television show went missing in King and Queen for a Day. When the two Pokémon were found, they were discovered to be sick and James's Mime Jr. and Brock's Bonsly had to fill in for them.

Trivia

  • Mime Jr.'s US name was revealed on May 28, 2006, the same day that Weavile's name was revealed.
  • Mime Jr. is one of three Pokémon on the player's team in the demo version of Diamond and Pearl.
  • Mime Jr. is one of the few pre-evolution Pokémon with a wide moveset, learning its last move on level 50. Other pre-evolutions are lucky to learn any moves past level 20.

Origin

Mime Jr. is based on a mime. Mime Jr. also looks like ice cream in a cone with whipped cream at the top.

Name origin

Mime Jr.'s name is based on that of its evolved form, Mr. Mime. Its Japanese name, Manene, is based on 真似 mane, mimicry. Its Korean name, 흉내내, comes from the Korean word for 'mimicry' (흉내내기).
