A Marchioness (Japanese: マーショネス Marchioness) is a type of Pokémon Trainer that debuted in the Battle Chateau of the Generation VI games Pokémon X and Y. The female player character becomes a Marchioness after defeating enough Trainers in the Battle Chateau and, along with its male counterpart class Marquis, is the next noble rank held by both her and trainers of the Battle Chateau after Countess.

Opponent Marchionesses all maintain parties of two Pokémon. Marchionesses that are not also Gym Leaders have Pokémon at level 35 if no Writ of Challenge is issued. Marchionesses that are also Gym Leaders will have Pokémon at level 40 if no Writ of Challenge is issued, unless the player has advanced to the rank of Duke or Duchess or has defeated the Champion. If the player has advanced to the next rank or defeated the Champion but has not issued a Writ of Challenge, they will have Pokémon at level 50.

Appearance

Marchionesses can appear as a Lady, a Madame, a Maid, a Furisode Girl or any of the female Gym Leaders of Kalos.
