Walkthrough:Pokémon Diamond and Pearl/Part 10
These pages follow the original Nintendo DS iteration, not Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The guide for those games can be found here.
Veilstone City

Veilstone City stands between Route 215 to the west and Route 214 to the south. The city was built by carving out the rocky terrain, leaving stone walls that give the city a cold atmosphere. Veilstone values entertainment, and features both a Game Corner and the Veilstone Department Store. Despite its isolation from other cities, Trainers flock here to challenge the Veilstone Gym.

The warehouse in the northwest part of the city belongs to Team Galactic. With two Grunts stationed outside, entry is impossible for the moment.
Veilstone Department Store

Standing tall in the heart of the city, the Veilstone Department Store is the largest shop in Sinnoh. Nearly any item a Trainer may need can be purchased here.
1F: Trainers' Zone
On the first floor, the Trainers' Zone offers common items found in most Poké Marts, like Great Balls and Super Potions.

Speak to the Socialite near the entrance. She has made an Accessory modeled after the Pokémon of a Trainer that she once met, and asks if you would like one. The Mask received is modeled on the first partner Pokémon with a disadvantage against your own.
2F: Battle Collection
The Battle Collection occupies the second floor. The clerk near the north wall offers temporary stat-enhancing items. The clerk in the middle offers permanent stat-enhancing items.

Galactic Veilstone Building

The large building on the northeast hill is known as the Galactic Veilstone Building.
1F
If spoken with, the Grunt behind the service desk nearly slips up, initially welcoming visitors to the "Team Galactic Headqu...". According to a Scientist, the group conducts research around the clock here to promote the development of new energy sources.
The large room on the south side of the ground floor is open to all visitors, but a special key is needed to proceed any farther.
Veilstone Game Corner

On the southeast hill, the Veilstone Game Corner sits to the west. The venue features sixteen slot machines. Patrons in possession of a Coin Case may purchase Coins from the woman behind the service counter in bundles of 50 for $1,000 or 500 for $10,000.
Speak to the other patrons to find that several are feeling charitable, and hope to spread their good fortune by sharing some of their winnings. The man at the easternmost row of machines asks if you have battled the Gym Leader yet, as it happens to be his daughter.
Prize Exchange

The Prize Exchange is located on the southeast hill, just east of the Game Corner. Coins can be exchanged for valuable prizes from the woman behind the service counter.

Lady Luck
On the southwest hill, visit the eastern of the two houses and speak to the Clown inside. After spinning a coin, he asks which of his hands it might be in. Choose correctly, and he rewards you with a Coin Case. This case allows the holder to try their luck in the Veilstone Game Corner and can hold up to 50,000 Coins, which may be redeemed for valuable prizes.
Meet Up with Dawn/Lucas
As you approach the Veilstone Gym, you find Dawn/Lucas waiting for you. The Trainer asks if you intend to take on the Gym Leader, as you seem to keep getting tougher and tougher. She/He had taken a break from filling the Pokédex to check out the city, but soon hurries off to continue the task.
Veilstone Gym

| Veilstone City Pokémon Gym Leader: Maylene The Barefoot, Fighting Genius! | |
The Veilstone Gym specializes in Fighting-type Pokémon. Fighting-type moves are super effective against Dark-, Ice-, Normal-, Rock-, and Steel-type Pokémon, while Fighting-type Pokémon are weak to Flying- and Psychic-type moves.
The Gym is designed like a dojo, and features an elevated wooden walkway with several gaps where Black Belts can be seen honing their skills below. Sliding wall panels must be positioned so that they clear a path forward to the Gym Leader. Begin by pushing the southeastern-most wall panel eastward, then battle nearby Black Belt Rafael. Walk north over the ramps, then do the same to the second panel. Backtrack then move north along the east wall, then push the northeastern-most panel westward. Loop around and move north between the eastern and central rooms, and push the two panels here eastward. Move the panel between the southeast and northeast rooms westward. Pass through the two eastern rooms and push the southern of two north-central panels westward. Next, battle Black Belt Jeffrey in the south-central room and push the panel here westward. Walk up the ramp and slide the panel between the four westernmost rooms westward, then do the same with the panel in the northwest room. Backtrack through the south-central room, then slide the northern of two panels in the southwest room westward. Push the southwestern-most and northwestern-most panels eastward. Battle Black Belt Darren in the southwest room, then move the northern of the two north-central panels eastward. Battle Black Belt Colby in the north-central room, then proceed northward to reach the Gym Leader.
VS Maylene
Maylene begins with her Meditite, a Fighting/Psychic Pokémon. Though Flying-type Pokémon will have an advantage, consider facing it with a Ghost Pokémon instead. Drain Punch uses half the damage dealt to heal the user, and receives a power boost from its Pure Power Ability. Meditite can further boost its physical Attack with Meditate, but Ghost Pokémon are immune to Fighting moves. Machoke can complement its high Attack by using Leer to lower the target's physical Defense, making Brick Break hit that much harder. Flying Pokémon beware, as Rock Tomb lets it counterattack with super effective damage. Her Lucario can restore its health with Drain Punch and its Sitrus Berry, and raise its physical Attack with Metal Claw. Its Steel typing causes Flying- and Psychic-type moves to deal only 50% damage; Fire, Ground, and Fighting attacks will be the most effective.

After the battle, Maylene awards you the Cobble Badge, which enables the use of Fly in the field. She also gives you TM60 (Drain Punch) as a prize.
A Cry for Help
Upon exiting the Gym, you find Dawn/Lucas waiting for you. It seems that the Trainer accidentally dropped her/his Pokédex, but Team Galactic happened to find it first and now refuses to give it back. She/He pleads with you for help, and asks that you meet up in front of the warehouses in the northwest part of the city.
To Stop a Thief

When you approach the Galactic Warehouse, you find Dawn/Lucas confronting the two Grunts stationed outside. Speak to your friend, who asks to team up and battle together. The Trainer's team consists of a Clefairy, a Kadabra, and the second stage of her/his first partner Pokémon.
Defeat the two Grunts in a Multi Battle and they give up the Pokédex, saying that Team Galactic will soon own all of the Pokémon in the universe anyway. They retreat into the warehouse, but not before revealing that something that had been kept here has already been moved to Pastoria City. Afterward, your friend thanks you for the help, and asks what you plan to do now. She/He is thinking of heading to Pastoria City, and mentions that the Great Marsh there is home to many kinds of Pokémon.
Galactic Warehouse
1F
Without a certain key, only the first floor of the warehouse is accessible at the moment. Examine the item to the east of the entrance to pick up HM02 (Fly), a field move that allows the user to quickly return to any familiar location. According to the nearby Grunt, whatever was transported to Pastoria City was created with energy stolen from the Valley Windworks.
Relics of a Bygone Era
The southeastern part of the city is marred by impact craters. Though it is unclear how recently these pits were formed, several meteorites have survived their crash landing and can still be found within them.

| It Came from Outer Space
Examine one of these meteorites with a Deoxys in the party, and the radiation from their deep-space travels causes it to change forms. The spacefaring Pokémon cannot be found in Sinnoh, and must be imported through Pal Park from Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. Each meteorite triggers a different form:
