Route 214

Route 214

Route 214 leads south from Veilstone City to Valor Lakefront. The path has seen little development, leaving travelers to describe the area as "wildly natural" or simply "a mess". A small cave can be found in the northwest cliffs.

Ruin Maniac Cave is a small chamber hewn into the northwestern cliffs.

Ruin Maniac Cave
(Initial)

Meet the Ruin Maniac

Speak to the man inside, and he explains that everyone calls him the Ruin Maniac. He seems unimpressed with the nickname, but intends to continue his excavation project regardless. He explains that he is fascinated by all of the Unown forms, and proposes a race: you go and catch each of the Unown forms in the Solaceon Ruins while he continues his digging, with whoever completes their task first declared the winner.

By the time you have seen at least 10 forms of Unown, the man's efforts have extended the cave into a tunnel, and he has chosen a new nickname for himself, the Digging Maniac.

By the time you have seen all 26 forms of Unown, the tunnel has broken through to the Solaceon Ruins. Now known as Maniac Tunnel, it allows travelers to reach the previously-inaccessible upper chamber where two final Unown forms can be found.

Hotel Grand Lake

Seven Stars Restaurant, Interior

Valor Lakefront is a stretch of land that runs alongside Lake Valor to the west, connecting the lake with Route 214 to the north, Route 213 to the south, and Route 222 to the east. Much of the route is occupied by Hotel Grand Lake, a popular resort.

No Entry

A pair of men stands at the entrance to Lake Valor. These Scientists reveal that they were asked to keep everyone away from the lake by a man named Cyrus. Though no reason was given, they believe that they are protecting the lake by doing so.

A Sweet, Suite Key

A blonde woman can be seen standing outside the easternmost building. Speak to her, and she explains that she's dropped her Suite Key somewhere again. She mentions how the people from the hotel won't be happy with her, and believes that she still had the key when she left the reception counter.

The Suite Key can be found near the southernmost building in Hotel Grand Lake, the entrance to the resort. From this building's northern exit, the hidden key is located one step to the northwest. Return it to the woman, and she uses it to unlock the door and enter the cottage. Speak to her again inside to receive a Lava Cookie as a reward.

Power Outage

If you try to venture eastward to Route 222, you are stopped by a man between the two stairways. He informs you that down this road lies Sunyshore City, which is currently experiencing a major blackout. Though crews are working hard to restore power, the road is closed for now.

Hotel Grand Lake

Sprawling across both Valor Lakefront and Route 213, Hotel Grand Lake is one of Sinnoh's most popular resorts. Rather than be contained within a single building, the hotel consists of several indiviual cottages scattered across the terraced land. The area is also home to the Seven Stars Restaurant, located on the north side of the hill.

Seven Stars Restaurant

In the Seven Stars Restaurant, visitors are encouraged to challenge other patrons to battle. These battles are structured as Double Battles, and may only be held from 9:00am to 11:00pm. There are nine possible pairs of opposing Trainers; the five pairs that a challenger must face are decided randomly each day.

The Game Director

The western cottage near the swimming pool belongs to the Game Director from Game Freak. He commends your efforts in completing the Pokédex, and asks that you show him once you have filled it with tons of entries. The Sinnoh regional Pokédex catalogs 151 species; in order to be considered complete, the user must have seen 150 species, excluding a certain Mythical Pokémon. Speak to the man again after doing so, and he rewards you with a Diploma to mark the achievement.

Reception Desk

The southernmost building serves as the hotel's reception desk. If spoken with, the Policeman behind the counter informs you that the hotel is fully booked, but allows you to rest for a moment. Doing so restores your Pokémon to full health.

Route 213

Route 213

Route 213 connects Valor Lakefront to the north with Pastoria City to the west. Offshore boulders form a jetty that becalms any waves reaching the beach. Like with Valor Lakefront, much of the area is occupied by Hotel Grand Lake.

Dr. Footstep's house

The house on the western beach belongs to a man known as Dr. Footstep. The man claims to have the ability to learn a Pokémon's thoughts by examining their footprints. Noticing your skepticism, he asks that you let your lead Pokémon walk by in front of him. If the Pokémon has a strong enough friendship with you, he awards it a Footprint Ribbon.
