Obstruct protects the user from all effects of physical and special moves that target it during the turn it is used. If Obstruct blocks an attack that would make contact with the user, the attacker's Defense stat is lowered by 2 stages. Obstruct causes the Defense stat to drop even if the user of Obstruct was immune to that contact move. (Moves that are blocked do not activate other effects that require making contact, like Rocky Helmet or Rough Skin.)
If the user goes last in the turn, the move will fail. The chance that Obstruct will succeed also drops each time the user successfully and consecutively uses Endure, any protection move that only affects the user, Quick Guard, or Wide Guard. Each time, the chance of success is divided by 3.
This move enables the user to protect itself from all attacks. Its chance of failing rises if it is used in succession. Direct contact harshly lowers the attacker's Defense stat.

Bold indicates a Pokémon gains STAB from this move. Italics indicates a Pokémon whose Evolution or alternate form receives STAB from this move. A dash (−) indicates a Pokémon cannot learn the move by the designated method. An empty cell indicates a Pokémon that is unavailable in that game/generation.
The user takes up a defensive posture. Using this move again will make the user leave this defensive posture. No other actions can be taken when in this defensive posture. Nullifies an attack move that targets the user while it is in this defensive posture, then the user leaves the defensive posture. If the move was a physical attack move, lowers the Defense of the opponent that used it by two stat ranks.
Description prior to version 2.10.0 (from June 28, 2021): ...If the move was a physical attack move, sharply lowers the Defense of the opponent that used it.
