Conversion 2 (Japanese: テクスチャー２ Texture 2), formatted as Conversion2 prior to Pokémon Stadium 2, is a non-damaging Normal-type move introduced in Generation II. It is one of the signature moves of Porygon's evolutionary line.

Generations II to III
Conversion 2 will randomly change the user's type to any type that either resists or is immune to the type of the last damaging move it was hit by.
If the last move the target used was a move that calls another move (such as Metronome), the type of the called move will be considered. If the last move the target used is a move that changes type (such as Hidden Power), the type it was changed to will be considered.
Conversion 2 targets the user.
Conversion 2 will no longer change the user to any of its current types. It will fail if the user already has all types that resist the type of the last damaging move.
Generations V to VII
Conversion 2 now targets an adjacent Pokémon and bypasses accuracy checks to always hit, unless the target is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly. It will randomly change the user's current type to a type that either resists or is immune to the type of the move last used by the target, including status moves. Conversion 2 will not change the user to any of its current types. In an Inverse Battle, Conversion 2 considers resistances based on inverse type matchups.
If the last move the target used was a move that calls another move (such as Metronome), the type of the called move will be considered. If the last move the target used is a move that changes type (such as Hidden Power), the type it was changed to will be considered. If the last move the target used had its type changed, such as with Electrify or Normalize, the type it changes to will be considered. Conversion 2 will fail if the last move the target used was Struggle, typeless Revelation Dance, or if there is no type that resists that move (i.e., a Normal-type move in an Inverse Battle).
If powered up by a Normalium Z into Z-Conversion 2, the user regains all of its HP.
In Versions 1.0 to 1.1.1 of Pokémon Sword and Shield, Conversion 2 could not be selected in a battle. Starting with Version 1.2.0, it can be selected and functions as it did in previous generations.
Conversion 2 cannot be selected in a battle.

In other games
In the Rescue Team, Explorers and Adventure Squad series, Conversion 2 causes the user to gain the Conversion 2 status for 11 turns. If the user is hit by a move, it will turn into a type that has the best matchup against it (even if it is a non-damaging move). The effect will trigger in the middle of moves that hit multiple times. It accounts for the actual type of Hidden Power, Natural Gift and Weather Ball (except in the Rescue Team series where Weather Ball is treated as a Normal-type move).
In Super Mystery Dungeon, Conversion 2 no longer results in a separate status condition, but will change the user's type to a random type that is advantageous to the target's last move.
