== Area Pages for Pokémon Shuffle ==
Has a decision been made on the page split project for [[Pokémon Shuffle]]? It's been over a month since the project was initially completed, pending other additions for new updates on the proposed pages, and I'm getting ready to prep an Escalation Battles page to add to that proposal as there is a significant amount of data pulled on the various stages (I think 21 in total) available on the Darkrai edition of the event; Cresselia also had a lot that I can go back and acquire, as well.
Turns out the new data puller is also getting all of the disruption data and Pokémon who default on the stage as well if support slots are empty, so each area page can now be expanded over time to have individual stage data under the summarized stage info, resulting in very detailed pages, so that will keep me busy provided it's approved. Apparently the updates in the single (huge!) initial report on that pastebin date back to 1.1.5 or something like that, so there might still be something (like Mew) missing; I'll see about that. == Template:Ytu ==
It's currently broken.
<code><span class="plainlinks">[http://www.youtube.com/user/{{{1|Bulbagarden}}} {{{2|{{{1|Bulbagarden}}}'s YouTube channel}}}]</span></code>
Fix: <code><span class="plainlinks">[https://www.youtube.com/{{{1|channel/UC5ukgiFPQ2N1FM_4eYZxiCg}}} {{{2|{{{1|Bulbagarden}}}'s YouTube channel}}}]</span></code>
This issue has priority because [[Template:YouTubeVid]] uses [[Template:Ytu]] and is still in use. A recent example of the issues this causes: [http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/w/index.php?title=List_of_glitches_in_Generation_I&oldid=2326038 here] and [http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/w/index.php?title=List_of_glitches_in_Generation_I&oldid=2326040 here]. Links to Google+ YouTube channel IDs are always broken but old YouTube channel IDs are fine, though. [[User:SatoMew2|SatoMew2]] ([[User talk:SatoMew2|talk]]) 22:18, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
:'''UPDATE:''' Further patched it to use HTTPS URLs (which reminds me [[Template talk:Wp#HTTPS|of this]]; it's 2015 and Wikipedia now strictly uses HTTPS). [[User:SatoMew2|SatoMew2]] ([[User talk:SatoMew2|talk]]) 22:47, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
::Both YouTube templates are now updated to use the existing 2 parameter for the link needed, whether it be user or channel, and the new '''name''' parameter to allow the link text to be a proper name. I have also updated the wp prefix on the interwiki table to use https. - [[User:Kogoro|'''<span class="sc" style="color:#DA70D6;">Kogoro</span>''']] '''-''' [[User talk:Kogoro|'''<span class="sc" style="color:#FFB6C1;">Talk to me</span>''']] - 05:53, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
:::Thanks. I still think that the extra work we put on ourselves is not worth it because YouTube videos are direct sources in themselves, and they already link to the author properly.
:::And [[Template:YouTubeVid]] is [http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/w/index.php?title=Template:YouTubeVid&oldid=1561295 not really broken]. [[Template:YouTubeEmbed]] thus seems unnecessary, especially when [https://web.archive.org/web/20150524142955/https://www.mediawikiwidgets.org/YouTube the YouTube widget it uses] is far more limited than [https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:EmbedVideo the EmbedVideo extension] used by "YouTubeVid". I've been playing around with this {{u|SatoMew2/YouTubeVid|here}} and {{ut|SatoMew2/YouTubeVid|here}}.
:::Also, [[Template:Ytu]] is now deprecated and unused so it should be deleted. [[User:SatoMew2|SatoMew2]] ([[User talk:SatoMew2|talk]]) 06:56, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
::::The YouTube user links are still broken. For Google+ channels, it should be <code>youtube.com/channel/<channellink></code>, and for older accounts (with actual names in the URLs) it should be <code>youtube.com/user/<username></code>. Currently, it's using <code>youtube.com/<username></code>, which usually works for older accounts (not sure if it fails for some of them though), but does not work for Google+ channels. [http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/w/index.php?title=Template:YouTubeVid&diff=55824&oldid=52526 Here] is the fix I did on Bulbanews, if you're interested in implementing it that way. --[[User:SnorlaxMonster|<span style="color:#A70000">'''Snorlax'''</span>]][[User talk:SnorlaxMonster|<span style="color:#0000A7">'''Monster'''</span>]] 13:41, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
:::::Well, you could just add "channel/" yourself but, since you mentioned this, then don't forget that there is a third channel ID URL type, <code>youtube.com/c/<anything></code>. The best solution is to drop the pointless names from the template altogether since they try to solve a problem that doesn't exist. "YouTubeVid" just needs to be fixed and EmbedVideo doesn't have to be replaced with the YouTube widget. [https://i.imgur.com/8UNKH8n.png Here's how my template looks on mobile Bulbapedia, by the way.] Also, there will always be loading issues if a page has too many embedded videos, regardless of template, extension, or widget. [[User:SatoMew2|SatoMew2]] ([[User talk:SatoMew2|talk]]) 15:43, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
::::::Here's the code for my template, in case you decide to fix "YouTubeVid", which would be the best call (I don't want my userspace edits to be merged with mainspace): <nowiki><div>{{#ev:youtube|{{{1|1}}}|{{{2|}}}|{{{3|}}}|{{{4|}}}|{{{5|}}}}}</div></nowiki>. Parameter 1 is the ID, 2 is for the dimensions, 3 is for alignment, 4 is for descriptions, and 5 is for wrapping the video player in a MediaWiki thumbnail box using <code>frame</code> ([https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:EmbedVideo#Attributes_for_Parser_Tags source]). In a way, it's like what we do with images. [[User:SatoMew2|SatoMew2]] ([[User talk:SatoMew2|talk]]) 16:34, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
:::Can you also update the interwiki link table so that [[Template:Jwp]] uses HTTPS as well? [[User:SatoMew2|SatoMew2]] ([[User talk:SatoMew2|talk]]) 16:35, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
:::::::@SnorlaxMonster: While your fix works fine for Bulbanews, it's not something we can use on Bulbapedia as we're trying to avoid extraneous use of parser functions on articles due to their negative effect on load times. The changes I made to the templates work, but require the articles to be modified slightly to get back up to date.
:::::::@SatoMew2: The names aren't pointless, and you really need to drop the crusade against them. Bulbapedia strives to attribute the videos '''before''' the reader uses the play button. The EmbedVideo extension is not to be used, and only remains installed for legacy purposes, the only approved embedding format is {{template|YouTubeEmbed}}. Your "template" will not be used. {{template|YouTubeVid}} will not be updated to include videos again, as it's been replaced by {{template|YouTubeEmbed}} for cases where embedding is necessary. {{template|YouTubeVid}} should be used in cases where there's too many videos, and some have to be relegated to being linked instead of embedded (for load time purposes). The jwp interwiki prefix has been updated. - [[User:Kogoro|'''<span class="sc" style="color:#DA70D6;">Kogoro</span>''']] '''-''' [[User talk:Kogoro|'''<span class="sc" style="color:#FFB6C1;">Talk to me</span>''']] - 05:47, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
::::::::It has occurred to me that {{template|YouTubeVid}} says ''"Videos are currently unavailable on Bulbapedia; instead, you can watch the video on YouTube here."'' However, the embed template does work at this point in time, so they actually are "available". Could YouTubeVid's text be changed somehow? [[User:Tiddlywinks|Tiddlywinks]] ([[User talk:Tiddlywinks|talk]]) 00:49, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
:::::::::The right thing to do is inform people that the template is deprecated and should be replaced with {{Template|YouTubeEmbed}} or regular links. And {{Template|Ytu}} needs to be deleted since it's not needed anymore. [[User talk:SatoMew2|<b><span style="color:#4fd9ff">SatoMew</span></b>]] 13:47, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
::::::::::@Tiddlywinks; I've changed the wording to be specific that the individual videos using YTV aren't available on-wiki, rather than videos in general.
::::::::::@SatoMew2; YTV isn't depreciated. If it was depreciated, it would have the archived template notice on it. It's appropriate to use in cases where a specific video ''shouldn't'' be embedded. {{template|ytu}} is still used in some userspace pages, and doesn't really need to be deleted. - [[User:Kogoro|'''<span class="sc" style="color:#DA70D6;">Kogoro</span>''']] '''-''' [[User talk:Kogoro|'''<span class="sc" style="color:#FFB6C1;">Talk to me</span>''']] - 05:21, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
:::::::::::The only reason I stated it was deprecated is your statement that it's OK to use direct links for videos. Since the only purpose of the template is to embed a YouTube player with some Bulbapedia-esque additions, it makes no sense to keep using it if people are not going to watch videos with it (that's what {{Template|YouTubeEmbed}} is for, after all). There is simply no reason to make this more messy. [[User talk:SatoMew2|<b><span style="color:#4fd9ff"><span lang="ja">サトミュウ</span> (SatoMew)</span></b>]] 23:19, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
== Vector skin == | |||
You may or may not be aware but [https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Skin:Vector Vector] has become the default MediaWiki skin since 2010. It replaces the old [https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Skin:MonoBook MonoBook] that is still used on Bulbapedia. Anyone, particularly non-editors, can use Bulbapedia with Vector ([http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Main_Page?useskin=Vector try it yourself]), effectively getting rid of the ads without registering an account.
My suggestion to you is that you stop using MonoBook and "Bulbafy" Vector so that it becomes the wiki's new look. Here's how [https://tcrf.net/The_Cutting_Room_Floor TCRF] looks with Vector since it became their new look a while back ([https://tcrf.net/The_Cutting_Room_Floor?useskin=MonoBook old look for comparison]).
Additionally, please get rid of the right-sidebar ads as they continuously break the wiki's layout, especially templates. The pop-up ads at the bottom (like the ones advertising Bulbanews) are obnoxious too. [[User:SatoMew2|SatoMew2]] ([[User talk:SatoMew2|talk]]) 23:29, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
:We have no interest at this time to use Vector as our default skin, we're happy with Monobook. As for issues & complaints regarding adverts, you will need to take that up with <span class="plainlinks">[http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/members/1.html Archaic on the BMGf]</span>. - [[User:Kogoro|'''<span class="sc" style="color:#DA70D6;">Kogoro</span>''']] '''-''' [[User talk:Kogoro|'''<span class="sc" style="color:#FFB6C1;">Talk to me</span>''']] - 05:53, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
::OK, but could you apply [[Template:Bulba color]] or its variants to the background of both MonoBook and Vector? It will fit with the wiki's identity better. As to the ads, can't you at least enable them for Vector? [[User:SatoMew2|SatoMew2]] ([[User talk:SatoMew2|talk]]) 06:56, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
:::Changing the background colors of the two skins is quite minor, but we'll consider some options if we have time to spare on it. As for ads, I am not able to add them to Vector, as the ads are handled by our server techs. == Shuffkle Reorg So Far ==
[[Pokémon Shuffle]] is now down to 48,578 bytes from a peak of 158,052 bytes at 02:25, 5 September 2015. The last edit removed 53,622 bytes for special stage data alone (this does not count the regular and expert stages, which initially removed 41,696 of data to replace it with a table of areas). I do have a concern, once I get around to expanding stage data onto that page (in the manner I'll be expanding the area pages), that the [[special stage]]s page will itself come close to or exceed the 100,000 bytes mark; this and the large volume of related information is the reason why I determined that Escalation Battle (also now a [[User:CycloneGU/Escalation Battle|userpage]] I will be independently working on to organize information off of the live page for later use on the live page) and Competitive Stage, at a minimum, needed separate pages, and why I wanted to treat Pokémon Safari and The Daily Pokémon as if they were areas due to having 15 and 20 Pokémon respectively. In total, there are 68 unique events, more than twice as many as just stages in either [[Wacky Workshop]] or [[Pedra Valley]]. It's all right for now, and this is a good start, but the expansion will be needed later or we'll have another huge and complex page for users to find their way around when it's fully expanded and with even more events on the page. There will be no problem expanding the table to later include various special stage pages, even those that anchor to a miscellaneous events page, or even creating a separate special stages table with those links, but one thing at a time. =)
Other than configuring data around Escalation Battle, I'll be working now on individual area page expansion and can finally go ahead with updating sidegames data. I'll discuss that project further with Ht14, whom I discussed it with previously, before going through every page; I have all the data already entered into a Notepad document for the first 649 Pokémon and can continue editing 650-719 for any formatting changes. ==Template:J==
Would it be possible to make its usage in regular text obligatory or at least recommended? We use it to style Japanese text but I don't know if Bulbapedia is using any particular CSS for it. The most visible advantage of using the template is in Blink-based browsers like Chromium and its derivatives (Google Chrome, Opera, etc.). Take [[Serena's Eevee]] article as an example. Here's how it looks [http://s18.postimg.org/52wu6zxyx/before.png before] and [http://s7.postimg.org/t1zc3rr97/after.png after] styling the Japanese text in the lead with the template. Notice how {{Template|AnimePokémonInfobox}} is already using the same code as {{Template|J}} anyway (the HTML span tag with the lang attribute set to "ja"). This assures that the presentation of the text is consistent. We can't really see an ''ideal'' implementation for the template, mainly that any option is going to have one sort of issue or another. However, in general, Tiddlywinks's modification from your template appears to be the better implementation of the options we've been able to consider. As long as all of the sub-templates that are needed have been created, we can work toward starting the project. - [[User:Kogoro|'''<span class="sc" style="color:#DA70D6;">Kogoro</span>''']] '''-''' [[User talk:Kogoro|'''<span class="sc" style="color:#FFB6C1;">Talk to me</span>''']] - 01:07, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

When using the {{template|Split}}, {{template|Merge}}, {{template|Move}}, and {{template|DiscussDelete}} templates, you stated in the messege from the editor (hope it was you) the one should add "''a section outlining the rationale for the nomination '''must''' be added to the article's talk page. Hello, I've have been watching [[User:Eridanus|Eridanus's]] work in creating Dungeon articles for [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (WiiWare)|these games]] as we are currently missing almost all of them, however I have also noticed that he has to write <nowiki>[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (WiiWare)|Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Keep Going! Blazing Adventure Squad!]], [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (WiiWare)|Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Let's Go! Stormy Adventure Squad!]], [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (WiiWare)|Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Go For It! Stormy Adventure Squad!]], and [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (WiiWare)|Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Go For It! Light Adventure Squad!]] respectivly on each page for indication in which game it is in and that should in my oppinion be tedious since it is a very long script to write, so I'm thinking why not create a template that would take care of this for you were you only had to write <nowiki>{{pmdg:Blazing adventure squad}}</nowiki> for example to get [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (WiiWare)|Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Keep Going! == Editorial board members and activity level ==
Are there any rules or guidelines about how active editorial board members must be to remain on the editorial board? I am asking because I have recently noticed that [[User:Kenji-girl|Kenji-girl]] last showed edited any page since mid May ([[Special:Contributions/Kenji-girl|shown here]]), and also last shows up in the public logs at the same time and date ([[Special:Log/Kenji-girl|said logs]]), which I checked because I have not received any reply to a question I asked on that same day (on her talk page, in [[User_talk:Kenji-girl#Nintendo Anime Channel|this section]]), and started to wonder why. Since there is an activity requirement to get onto the editorial board, surely something should happen now, even if it is just a notice of her unavailability being added to the top of the talk page to tell people to ask someone else. == Template:Item messy code ==
I happened to catch your comment about {{template|Item}}'s messy code. I suppose your complaint refers to this, in particular the ridiculous tail of "}".
<pre style="white-space: normal">
{{{descstad|{{{descgsc|{{{descgs|{{{descc|{{{descrse|{{{descrs|{{{desce|{{{descfrlg|{{{descrsefrlg|{{{desccoloxd|{{{desccolo|{{{descxd|{{{descdppt|{{{descdppthgss|{{{descdp|{{{descpt|{{{descpthgss|{{{deschgss|{{{descbw|{{{descb2w2|{{{descbwb2w2|{{{descmdrb|{{{descmdtds|{{{descmdts|{{{descmdds|{{{descmds|{{{descmdww|{{{descmdgti|{{{descsmd|{{{descconquest|{{{descxy|{{{descoras|{{{descxyoras|}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
</pre> | |||
All that could perhaps be made a bit more sane if they were instead written like <code><nowiki>{{{descstad|}}}{{{descgsc|}}}{{{descgs|}}}[...]</nowiki></code>. It looks like the idea is just, "Are ''all'' of these blank?", and writing it like this does the same thing while making it much easier to add to.
As an additional comment, I noticed a few apparently pointless uses of #expr...
<pre> | |||
{{#expr: 5 - {{#if: {{{catchrate|}}}|2|0}}}}
{{#expr: 1 + {{#if: {{{descstad|{{{descgsc|[...]}}}}}}|0|1}}}}
^In two places | |||
{{#expr: 2 + {{#if: {{{effect2|}}}|1|0}}}}
</pre> | |||
It looks to me like you could just get rid of the calculation and simply rely on the if function to spit out the required number. In other words:
<pre> | |||
{{#if: {{{catchrate|}}}|3|5}}
{{#if: {{{descstad|{{{descgsc|[...]}}}}}}|1|2}}
{{#if: {{{effect2|}}}|3|2}}

So the other seven are on the Nintendo Network page, not the serial code page? I was trying to figure out why only four were listed. My apologies if I jumped the gun there. Hello. I was wondering how to utilize additional colors (such as for regions and for specific games) for '''[[Template:youtubevid]]'''. However, on the page for [[M18]], I cannot properly integrate the "OmegaRuby" and "AlphaSapphire" colors or the "Hoenn" colors to make the '''"youtubevid"''' template visually match with the rest of the page. ::Thank you very much for the response! I examined your edit, and I think that I have a better handle on how the template works now. Apparently, I thought that the "channel/?????" (alternatively, "user/?????") portion was optional and thought that the "by ?????" portion essentially served the same function, leading me to just omit the "channel/?????" portion... However, from what I can see now, it looks like there is a small difference - one is for display purposes and the other is for URL-linking of specific YouTube users/user-channels. I will keep the distinction in mind for future edits with the hopes of improving other articles with integrated video links; thanks again for the clarity! I tried to make the YouTube video on this page ([[Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions]]) match the coloration of the rest of the article, but I am unable to use the proper shades - for attempts, I have tried entering things in the template's 'color' fields like "Kanto|Kanto", "Kantocolorlight|Kantocolordark", and "Kanto color light|Kanto color dark" as well as "light red|light green", "redcolorlight|greencolorlight", "lightredcolor|lightgreencolor", but these terms do not seem to be working. Thanks again for your help! [[User:Fenyx4|Fenyx4]] ([[User talk:Fenyx4|talk]]) 22:00, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
::::The colors can be more freely modified by using the parameters '''color''', '''colordark''', and '''colorlight''' which will allow you to use {{template|colorschemedark}} and {{template|colorschemelight}} to use Kanto colors. I have done so on the [[Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions]] article, so you can see an example there. - [[User:Kogoro|'''<span class="sc" style="color:#DA70D6;">Kogoro</span>''']] '''-''' [[User talk:Kogoro|'''<span class="sc" style="color:#FFB6C1;">Talk to me</span>''']] - 04:27, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
== Linking to items with their own articles on "List of items" pages. ==
''(I had previously asked this question at the [[Bulbapedia:Editor's Hub]] but unfortunately did not get a reply, so I was wondering if you could assist with this issue as well.. Thanks again.)''
On the various "List of items" pages, is there a way to properly link to the articles of items that have their own articles?
'''Example''': In the entry for [[Destiny Knot]], the section has the small words "Red Thread", which in turn has a link to a Wikipedia page about the "Red String of Fate". If "Destiny Knot" had its own Bulbapedia article, would there be a way to make '''the big bold-faced words "Destiny Knot"''' point to such an article? It appears that I am having link/template difficulties.. Thanks in advance for the help. [[User:Fenyx4|Fenyx4]] ([[User talk:Fenyx4|talk]]) 21:07, 21 January 2016 (UTC)
:It is not possible to make the name "Destiny Knot" in the template link to another article. The way to link to a main item article can be found at [[Poké Ball#Master Ball|the Master Ball section of the Poké Ball article]] (You will need to expand the template to see it in action). Please keep in mind, however, {{bp|Staff|we}} are considering options regarding giving items their own unique articles. Thus, such articles should not be created until we have a distinct format finalized for such articles. ::Thank you very much for the reply! It is unfortunate that such linking cannot be properly performed.. In any case, I viewed the example that you provided for the [[Master Ball]]; it currently seems like a usable workaround (although admittedly, I initially missed seeing that text since I tend to focus more on the left-side text than the right-side text, probably because Item names are boldfaced on the left side.. XD). I am glad to hear that additional options (in terms of "Item" articles) are undergoing staff consideration/deliberation.
::The main reason I was inquiring was because of the current existence of articles for several [[Generation 3]] [[Event item|event]] [[key item]]s, such as the [[Eon Ticket]] and the [[Old Sea Map]]. I will wait for further deliberation regarding standard Items, then. However, in regards to the Key Items that already have their own articles (mostly visible '''[[:Category:Key Items|here]]'''), is it permissible to link to the already-existing articles while refraining from ''creating'' articles on standard Items (like the Destiny Knot, etc.)? Or should I refrain from linking to the already-existing "Key Item" articles as well until further deliberation has occurred? Thanks for your help. == Addition to templates v2 ==
As suggested by Carmenstar97, I come to you to discuss about adding a new section to trainer lists templates.
[[User_talk:Carmenstar97#Addition_to_templates|Original Thread]] [[User:MannedTooth|MannedTooth]] ([[User talk:MannedTooth|talk]]) 00:23, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
:To start with the original suggestion of using {{template|Party}} for minor Trainers: To put it bluntly; that's never going to happen. Minor Trainers aren't important enough to rationalize the use of {{template|Party}}, and that template is far too server-extensive to be used that many times on several articles. {{template|Party}} is solely for the use of major Trainers in the mainspace, and personal parties in the userspace.
:I ''may'' consider allowing the option to add moves to the current minor Trainer tables that are used on location articles, but there are several much more important things to add to templates than minor Trainer move lists. - [[User:Kogoro|'''<span class="sc" style="color:#DA70D6;">Kogoro</span>''']] '''-''' [[User talk:Kogoro|'''<span class="sc" style="color:#FFB6C1;">Talk to me</span>''']] - 05:11, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

:::I never suggested that you wanted a modification to the template. == Username change/usurpation ==
Hello, Kogoro. I was wondering if usernames with no edit history/contributions of any kind—those that were registered and nothing more—could be usurped, like [[wikipedia:Wikipedia:Changing_username/Usurpations|on Wikipedia]]. [[User:Greigite|<span style="color:green;">Greigite</span>]] (<small>[[User talk:Greigite|<span style="color:green;">talk</span>]]</small>) 04:52, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
:In general, we do not allow usernames to be usurped by anyone. In ''extremely'' rare cases, we have considered requests for username usurpation. About the only reason we would consider a usurpation is if you have been using the desired username elsewhere on Bulbagarden ''prior'' to the registration of the Bulbapedia account that has the username. You are welcome to request to usurp another's username, but the request will likely not be accepted. - [[User:Kogoro|'''<span class="sc" style="color:#DA70D6;">Kogoro</span>''']] '''-''' [[User talk:Kogoro|'''<span class="sc" style="color:#FFB6C1;">Talk to me</span>''']] - 05:11, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
::I want to help out on the wiki more often, truly... but not under ''this'' name. It's not that I don't like this name; the username I have in-mind just appeals to me more. I have very rudimentary knowledge of basic JavaScript (by virtue of knowing C), an adeptness in CSS and HTML, and extensive knowledge of the MediaWiki software platform; i.e., I would at least be a somewhat useful editor, and I feel I would only benefit from editing amongst the editors of Bulbapedia. The name I want is a simple, four character one made the same year you joined, bearing no edit history. I mostly would act as a janitor of sorts, making minor edits and watching Special:RecentChanges, but they would be contributions nonetheless – that's more than can be said for the current 'owner' of the username in question. If I can't edit under this name in particular, though, I just won't have the necessary drive to contribute anything, because I'm a picky nancy. (Sorry)
::I just can't wrap my head around the 'why' of this. I know Bulbapedia and Wikipedia are two different wiki sites with a different set of policies, but how is usurpation of a completely abandoned and unused username bad/wrong, especially in the case of a username with zero contributions? What policies in particular would usurpation break on Bulba? It's just four characters; does some anonymous internet user out there with seemingly no intentions of ever contributing to Bulba really have claim to four simple characters?
::Sorry to annoying you further with this, even after you gave me a concrete answer, rather than going ahead and making the request. I haven't made the request due to the high chances of failure you alluded to; it seems pointless. ::Well, having a bigger discussion on collective nouns and formatting of plots would be interesting, such as: I was told that Pokémon should always be referred as the species, but for instance, when we're talking about Red's Poliwhirl (Poli), I don't see why we can't write Poli (or Poliwhirl) and link to Poli's page.
::Other thing, about synonyms, for example, in the PS001, the plot made a reference to a Phantom Pokémon (Mew). So I linked Mew to "Phantom Pokémon" So that users who were wondering what/who that actually was, could know right away. Isn't that a good thing to do? [[User:MannedTooth|MannedTooth]] ([[User talk:MannedTooth|talk]]) 05:02, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
:::Poli's nickname wasn't even known in PS001, it was only known as "Red's Poliwhirl". The synopsis should not refer to nicknamed Pokémon by their nicknames before the nickname was revealed. Additionally, it's always best to refer to each Pokémon by their species name in the first mention of them for each chapter's synopsis. Their nickname can be noted and linked to, but the initial mention needs to be their species.
:::In regards to Mew as the "Phantom Pokémon," its identity is revealed as Mew right in the beginning of the next paragraph. ::Well, it's obviously for the TCG, no need to tell you that. :P For now, we only have a list, so I figured that having a visual gallery (which could be linked) would be nice to have around. Because, as a Collector, you often don't know the set/# of a card, but you only remember the visual, so that would help them. Beside, it can also be used as a new way to show all the cards, since, for now, you would have to go to each card's page to see them one by one, and it's painfully long.
