(Japanese: ドレディア Doredia) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It evolves from Churine when exposed to a Sun Stone.

Biology

Physiology

Doredia wears a red flower upon its head, with a golden crown atop the flower. It has dark green leaves underneath the flower, and then more light green leaves under the darker ones. It also has two loose light green leaves hanging down from her hat, around where the ears should be. Her body is a pale white with bright red eyes. She has darker green leaves for arms, and a golden shirt-like cover above her midriff. Doredia has a large green, bowl-like dress covering her legs. There are two long, dark green leaves coming from her back to around the bottom of the dress. She has a golden rim surrounding the edge of the dress she wears.

Gender differences

Doredia is a female-only species with no male counterpart.

Special abilities

The aroma from its flower has a relaxing effect.

Behavior

It is very difficult to coax this Pokémon's flower to bloom. Once it does, if the Doredia is neglected, the flower will wilt.

Trivia

  • Doredia and its pre-evolved form are the only Grass-type Pokémon that are always female.

Origin

Though its flower is similar in appearance to the rafflesia, its relaxing smell makes it more likely to be based on either an orange, pomelo, or mandarin orange's flowers, all of which are used in essential oils for aromatherapy. Because of this, the leaves of its body may also have been based on other essential oil ingredients, such as spearmint and/or peppermint. Its crown and regal attire may be a reference to high class or royal women's fashion in the late 1700's.
