Clemont is first seen in Cyllage City alongside Grant. He gets a call from Bonnie informing him that one of the Electric-type Pokémon that they used to power Prism Tower during a blackout has gone missing. Grant then points Clemont to Grace, who he noticed sitting on a bench. They see her being taken away by Team Flare members. As he travels back to Lumiose City, Clemont reads up on Grace in various issues of Rock-type Magazine that Grant lent to him. He finds Grace's daughter, Y, and her friends chasing after an Electrike that had stolen Y's clothes. After the Electrike had been defeated and Y's clothes returned to her, the Electrike evolves into a Manectric.
X & Y
Clemont debuted in Charging After Electrike. He was first seen in Cyllage City alongside Grant, who was helping him find Electric Pokémon to power the Prism Tower during a blackout. After witnessing Grace, a famous Rhyhorn racer, being found and taken away by several Team Flare Grunts, the two were left wondering what happened. In Fast-Thinking Froakie, Clemont found Grace's daughter, Y, and her friends chasing an Electrike on 5. After Electrike was defeated, it evolved into a Manectric and revealed it wanted Y to retrieve a Manectite stuck in a tree. Overhearing the commotion, Clemont introduced himself and offered to help get the Mega Stone in Y's place. Before Clemont could grab the stone, a Team Flare Grunt stole it and fled, causing a tree to fall on top of Clemont. X and Trevor went after the Grunt while Y helped free Clemont, who revealed what he saw happened to Grace in Cyllage.

Clemont introduces himself to the group, but they accuse him of being someone suspicious. Clemont denies these claims, and when X realizes that Manectric must be looking for something, Clemont offers to use his backpack to track down the item in question, a Mega Stone. In addition to the Mega Stone, Clemont also finds a Team Flare Grunt in a tree who was also aiming to get the Mega Stone. Clemont attacks the Grunt with his Aipom Arm and obtains the Mega Stone. The Grunt retaliates by having his Tyrunt chew the tree down so that it would fall on top of Clemont and makes off with the Mega Stone. After the Grunt escapes, Y helps free Clemont with her Rhyhorn. The Grunt's four Espurr are defeated and captured by Cassius, who heard the commotion and came to help. As Cassius' Gourgeist holds the three Espurr captive, Clemont's curiosity gets the better of him. He decides to check under the Espurr's ears in order to find out what is under them, but is sent flying by the unrestrained force of their psychic powers. An unconscious Clemont is later found by the Team Flare Grunt that attacked them earlier, captured, and then taken to Team Flare's Secret HQ.
In Morphing Manectric, Clemont and the others were saved by Cassius, who defeated the Grunt's four Espurr. With the Espurr held captive, a curious Clemont took checked to see what was under their ears, causing him to be sent flying by the Espurr's unrestrained psychic power. The Grunt that stole the Manectite later found Clemont's unconscious body and captured him. In Shooting Frogadier, Clemont awakened in the Team Flare Secret HQ, where he was greeted by Xerosic, one of Team Flare's scientists. Xerosic freed Clemont from his bindings and ordered him to build a machine for Team Flare. Clemont initially refused, but was forced to comply after seeing Xerosic use his Clemont as a hostage.

After awakening, Clemont finds himself inside Team Flare's base and is greeted by Xerosic. Xerosic frees Clemont from his bindings and demands that the young scientist use his skills to build a machine for Team Flare that will allow them to absorb the energy of Xerneas. Clemont refuses and attempts to attack the scientist only to find his Poké Balls missing. Xerosic easily defeats the defenseless Clemont, knocking his glasses away. Xerosic then presents Clemont's Heliolisk as a hostage to force Clemont to comply. Sometime later, Clemont successfully finishes the machine, but is thrown into a garbage incineration chute now that Xerosic no longer has any use for him. In his attempt to figure out where he was dropped, Clemont uses his backpack's monitor and inadvertently finds out that Team Flare's base is in Geosenge Town. At the same time in Laverre City, a wild Klefki that Grace befriended presents X with the glasses that were knocked off of Clemont's face previously. With the glasses ability to connect with Clemont's backpack monitor, X also learns the location of Team Flare's base.
In Quilladin Stands, the device was finished and given to Lysandre. With Clemont having served his purpose, Xerosic order some Grunts to throw the boy down an incinerator chute. Using his Aipom Arm's camera function, Clemont discovered the Secret HQ was located in Geosenge Town. Around the same time in Laverre City, X received a pair of glasses belonging to Clemont from a wild Klefki. Using the glasses, he also discovered where the Secret HQ was hidden and set out to confront Team Flare.

When the Gym Leaders and X's friends head to Geosenge Town to attack Team Flare's base, they find the ultimate weapon in the process of being activated. While the Gym Leaders attempt to keep it from opening, Tierno, Trevor, and Shauna head to the garbage incineration chute to sneak into Team Flare's headquarters. As they climb the chute, they are attacked by Bryony's Bisharp, but are saved by Clemont's Aipom Arm at the last second. Tierno's group thanks Clemont for saving them and return his glasses back to him. They head further underground, where the find the holding cell of AZ. Although initially intimidated by his large appearance, Emma appears to assure everyone that AZ is a nice person. After freeing AZ, everyone continues advancing until they find the ultimate weapon's control room. Clemont uses his Aipom Arm to throw Trevor, Tierno, and Shauna to where the ultimate weapon's key is placed in so that they can attempt to remove it.
In Flabébé Blooms, Trevor, Tierno, and Shauna made it inside the Secret HQ, where they reunited with Clemont and freed AZ, a giant man that was held prisoner. Clemont helped launch Trevor and the others to where the ultimate weapon's key was held, but they were unable to pull it out in time before it fired. To Lysandre's frustration, the combined efforts of X, his friends, and the Gym Leaders successfully weakened the ultimate weapon, preventing it from taking any innocent lives. AZ stayed behind to allow Xerneas to take Clemont and the others back to the surface. Once Xerneas joined Y, they attempted to destroy the ultimate weapon, but were interrupted by Malva and her Yveltal. Due to Xerneas and Yveltal being evenly matched, Xerosic announced that Lysandre ordered a ceasefire. Xerxer confirmed this and retreated, taking everyone with it.

Later, Clemont, along with Bonnie, Alexa, Viola, and Yvette, confronts Team Flare at 10 in order to free the captured Pokémon there. Together, the group manages to defeat all the members of Team Flare and rescue the captured Pokémon. After Team Flare is fully defeated, Clemont and his allies meet with X and his friends at Lumiose City to congratulate them on their victory. Clemont reveals that he encountered Shauna's missing Furfrou at Route 10 and returns it to her. He also gives Trevor the Malva that he battled at Route 10 due to Shauna's Furfrou recognizing it as a friend.
In Pinsir Glares, Ramos revealed that Team Flare blamed the destruction caused by the ultimate weapon on the Gym Leaders and the Vaniville children. X and his friends were advised to keep out of the public's eye while the Gym Leaders helped rebuild the damaged areas. In Zygarde Agitated, Clemont, Bonnie, Alexa, Viola, and Yvette confronted Team Flare at 10. Together, the group managed to successfully free the Pokémon Team Flare had captured. After Team Flare was fully defeated, Clemont and his allies met with X and his friends at Lumiose City to congratulate them on their victory. He and Bonnie returned Furry, Shauna's missing Furfrou, to its Trainer. Clemont also gave Trevor Malva's Delphox, who they faced on Route 10, due to Furry recognizing it as an ally.

Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon
Clemont was mentioned by Professor Kukui in Pokémon Move Specialist Professor Kukui as the one that invented the Rotom Pokédex.

Clemont (Japanese: シトロン Citron) is an inventor who is the Gym Leader of Lumiose City's Gym, known officially as the Lumiose Gym. He specializes in Electric-type Pokémon. He gives the Voltage Badge to Trainers who defeat him.

In the core series games

Clemont challenging the player

Clemont is the the fifth Gym Leader to be faced by the player. At some early point in the game, he gives a device that solves electronic puzzles to Shauna. He first appears outside the Prism Tower with his little sister, Bonnie, lighting it up. He will give TM24 (Thunderbolt) after being defeated. According to the television show Gym Freaks, he is currently developing a machine that enables him to run faster, which is apparently his worst talent. It also states that he has secretly started to save money to go to the amusement park in the Unova region. He is described as a genius, having been credited with the invention of Super Training. Despite this, many of his inventions apparently fail to work.

X & Y arc

Clemont debuted in Charging After Electrike. He was first seen in Cyllage City alongside Grant, who was helping him find Electric-type Pokémon to power the Prism Tower during a blackout. After witnessing Grace, a famous Rhyhorn racer, being found and taken away by several Team Flare Grunts, the two were left wondering what happened. In Fast-Thinking Froakie, Clemont found Grace's daughter, Y, and her friends chasing an Electrike on Route 5.

Clemont initially refused, but was forced to comply after seeing Xerosic use his Heliolisk as a hostage.

In Zygarde Agitated, Clemont, Bonnie, Alexa, Viola, and Yvette confronted Team Flare at Route 10.

Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon arc

Clemont was mentioned by Professor Kukui in Pokémon Move Specialist Professor Kukui as the one that invented the Rotom Pokédex.
