Soak (Japanese: みずびたし Waterlog) is a non-damaging Water-type move introduced in Generation V.
Effect
Generation V
Soak changes the target's type to pure Water. The effect lasts as long as the target remains in battle; however, changing form or transforming overrides the effect. Soak succeeds even if the target is already a pure Water-type Pokémon.
Soak fails if used on a substitute or a Pokémon with Multitype.
The effect is not Baton Passed.
Generation VI onward
If used on a pure Water-type Pokémon, Soak's animation will still play, but the game will now state that the move has failed. Soak fails if used on a Pokémon with RKS System.
Soak can be used as part of a Contest Spectacular combination, with the user gaining an extra three appeal points if the move Rain Dance was used in the prior turn.
If powered up by a Waterium Z into Z-Soak, the user's Special Attack stat rises by one stage.
