To get to the island, one most recieve the Member's Card (Japanese: メンバーズカード) at a Nintendo event. A glitch in the Japanese versions of Diamond & Pearl allows the player to Surf through the first door in the Elite Four and reach New Moon Island with under 1000 steps. However, Nintendo has said that this glitch is being fixed.
When encountered, Darkrai is at Level 40. The battle plays the same music as Giradina and Heatran when they are encountered.
