Goh's Golurk (Japanese: ゴウのゴルーグ Go's Goloog) is the third Pokémon that Goh caught in the Unova region, and his twenty-seventh overall. It is a giant Pokémon.
In animation
History
Golurk debuted in Raid Battle in The Ruins!, where Goh and Ash visited the Unova region to explore the Colossus Ruins in the Desert Resort. After hatching from an ancient egg, it engaged in a Raid Battle with Ash, Goh, Kira, and the excavation leader. After a hard-fought battle, Goh eventually managed to catch it. Afterward, it was seen in the Cerise Laboratory, interacting with Goh's other Pokémon.
In Panic in the Park!, while trying to stop a fight that broke out between the other Pokémon during a food shortage, the seal on Golurk's chest was knocked off, causing it to go berserk. Ash and Goh kept Golurk distracted while Skwovet, Farfetch'd, Cubone, and Pidgey put the seal back on. It then helped protect the Cascoon from the flood caused by its rampage, allowing them to evolve into Dustox.
In Restore and Renew!, Goh used Golurk to help him dig up Fossils at the Pewter Museum of Science. Later, when an Aerodactyl revived from an Old Amber Goh had found went out of control, Goh sent out Golurk to battle it after Raboot had been defeated. Golurk was eventually able to stop Aerodactyl's rampage, after which Goh was able to convince Aerodactyl to let him catch it.
In Heroes Unite!, Golurk joined the rest of Goh's Pokémon at the lab to celebrate their Trainer's return from the last mission of Project Mew. In This Could be the Start of Something Big!, it attended a surprise party hosted by the Lab members commemorating Goh and Ash's departure. After that, it posed for a group photo with Goh, Ash, and the others.
Personality and characteristics
Golurk is a giant Pokémon, being much larger than other Golurk. It is very powerful; during the Raid Battle in Raid Battle in The Ruins!, it managed to take down all of the opposing Pokémon and land hits on Goh's Darmanitan and Ash's Dragonite. In battle, Golurk forgoes precise attacks, preferring to use its long-range attacks like Flash Cannon in sweeping arcs. Under Goh's control, it was able to use its size and power to withstand several hits from a wild Aerodactyl, biding its time until it could land a punishing blow with Hammer Arm.
Despite its considerable size and strength, it is a gentle giant outside of battle, as seen during its interactions with some of Goh's other Pokémon at the Cerise Laboratory, and doesn't seem to mind the other Pokémon resting on it while it is relaxing. In Restore and Renew!, Golurk was shown to be mindful of its own strength, heaving a large boulder out of the way for Goh and the others before gently fitting a much smaller stone between its fingertips to examine it for fossils. If the seal on its chest is removed, its energy runs wild, with the energy's color turning from yellow to red as it rampages. While on a rampage, it can cause significant damage to its surroundings, and cause torrential rainfall, just like the move Rain Dance.
It also shows a desire to protect Pokémon, as shown when it protected Goh's three Cascoon that were about to get hit with an Overheat attack from Darmanitan.
