A Maid (Japanese: メイド Maid) is a type of Pokémon Trainer that debuted in Platinum. They are depicted as young women in typical maid servant clothing.

They appear in Platinum in Mr. Backlot's mansion when the player decides to take the 5-Maid Knockout Exact-Turn Attack Challenge. Its objective is to beat all five maids in a certain amount of turns. The prize for winning the challenge is a battle with Lady Celeste or Rich Boy Liam. Each of them has a different lucky color and they specialize in training Clefairy.

In Black and White, they use Pokémon from the Field Egg Group. In the Battle Subway, they specialize in the final evolutions of starter Pokémon. In X and Y, they appear in the Battle Chateau although they go by another Trainer class and they also appear in the Battle Maison.

In the anime

Monica, a Maid from the anime

In Hungry for the Good Life!, a maid by the name of Monica worked at Mr. Backlot's mansion. Her overall design is loosely based on the maids found in the games. It should be noted that at the time the episode aired, the Maid Trainer class did not exist yet, and Monica was merely based on the overworld sprites of the maids in Diamond and Pearl.

Another maid named Molly made an appearance in Breaking Titles at the Chateau!, alongside a Butler named Turner. They acted as Ash and company's guides through the Battle Chateau, and officiated the matches held in the facility. She has the same character design as the maids in X and Y.

Trivia

  • When defeated, the Maids in the 5-Maid Knockout Exact-Turn Attack Challenge all say the same—"You're so strong!"—adding only an additional exclamation mark for each maid defeated.
  • When a Maid is battled at the Battle Frontier, she will be shown as a Waitress in Diamond and Pearl, as the Maid class did not exist in those versions.
  • Maids appeared in the Battle Pike in Pokemon Emerald, although they cannot be battled.
