Evolution card (TCG)

An evolution card is a type of card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game that must be placed on top of its previous form to be played. In the TCG, a Pokémon cannot be evolved on the turn it is played from a player's hand. Evolution cards tend to be more powerful and rarer than their previous stages. For instance, an Empoleon card is significantly more powerful and rare than a Prinplup card.
In the deck only Stage 1 Pokémon and Stage 2 Pokémon are considered evolution cards. In play, the definition also extends to Basic Pokémon that evolved from Baby Pokémon.
