Trivia
The prototype name for Dragonair was "Dragyn," a play on the word "dragon."
Origin
It appears to be based on sea serpents or lóng, traditional Chinese dragons who bring good luck.
Name origin
Dragonair's name appears to be a combination of dragon and air, referring to its ability to change the weather, or "lair", the home of a dragon. It may also be a play on the word debonair. Hakuryū could be taken to mean 白竜, white dragon.
