Walkthrough:Pokémon Diamond and Pearl/Part 20

This is the Bulbapedia walkthrough for Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.
These pages follow the original Nintendo DS iteration, not Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The guide for those games can be found here.

Pokémon League (South)

The Pokémon League's island

The island that holds the Pokémon League is located to the north of Sunyshore City, jutting up far above the ocean. A large waterfall ensures that only the strongest Trainers reach it. In order to reach the castle on the north side where the Elite Four and Champion await, determined challengers must first find their way through Victory Road.

Victory Road is a sprawling cave network that separates the south side of the Pokémon League island from the north side. It is the last and toughest of the trials leading up to the Pokémon League challenge. Surf, Strength, Rock Smash, Waterfall, and Rock Climb are all required to reach the other side.

1F

Cross northward over the bridge, then use Rock Climb to reach the lower level. Go west to battle Psychic Bryce and collect TM41 (Torment) to the north. Use Rock Climb again to return to the upper level, then go east over the second bridge. Walk down the stairway and head north to battle Bird Keeper Hana and pick up the Full Heal. Climb back up the stairway, go north over the third bridge, and use Rock Climb to climb down. Go west and pass between the two ledges and walk up the stairway. Move northward to battle Ace Trainer Mariah, then climb the nearby stairway to reach the second floor.

2F

Go west and use Rock Smash to clear the debris, then use Strength. Move the first boulder westward, then the second boulder eastward. Get out the Bicycle and press the B Button to shift to fourth gear, then jump the ramp. Use Rock Smash to clear the way, then shift to third gear and jump the second ramp. Go north to reach a Max Ether, then jump the ledge. Shift back to fourth gear, jump over the ramp, then jump down the ledge to return to the stairs from 1F.

Turn southward and clear the way with Rock Smash. Farther south, you find a group of three boulders. Use Strength and move the eastern one south, then the western one west, and then the southwest one southward. Go west and battle Ace Trainer Omar. Push the western of the two nearby boulders southward, clear the broken rock to the south, then move it back to its original position. Clear another broken rock to battle Ace Trainer Sydney. To the east, another group of three boulders can be found. Move the northern boulder eastward; this allows for northward travel but blocks the eastern tunnel. Go north to battle Veteran Clayton and walk down the stairs.

Treasure Hunting

In order to claim every item, however, immediately climb back up to 2F. Use Strength to push the boulder southward, then go east to reach another group of three boulders. Move the first one eastward, then the second one westward. Clear the way with Rock Smash, then move the third boulder southward. Go north and set the Bicycle to fourth gear to jump the first series of ramps and reach the Full Restore. Continue northward to battle Double Team Al & Kay. Jump the next two ramps to reach TM71 (Stone Edge).

1F

Move eastward over the bridge, then use Rock Climb to reach the lower level. Go northeast to battle Black Belt Miles, then walk down the stairs to the east.

B1F

Walk down the next two stairways and Surf across the first pool of water to battle Psychic Valencia. Surf out around her, then cross the pool to the southeast. Battle Double Team Jo & Pat, then cross the southernmost pool and climb the stairs to the west.

1F (East)

Pick up the Rare Candy, then walk back down to B1F.

B1F

Cross the southernmost pool, then go down the two stairways. Cross the second pool next to find a branching path: either Surf northward across the largest pool, or take the eastern path and battle Ace Trainer Henry. Afterward, use Waterfall to climb the wall of water and sail westward. Descend the western waterfall to reach TM59 (Dragon Pulse), then climb back up the water. Battle Dragon Tamer Ondrej, then turn southward and climb up the stairs.

1F

Go as far west as possible, then turn southward to reach a Razor Claw. Backtrack a bit and climb up the stairway next to Veteran Edgar. Cross the bridge to find a Zinc, and a man blocking a cave opening. It seems as though you are not yet tough enough to pass this way, so return to Veteran Edgar and go south. The path diverges here, so take the western path first. Scale the wall with Rock Climb, then cross the western bridge and climb the stairs beyond.

2F (North)

Use Strength to move both the north and south boulders westward, then the remaining boulder to either side. Collect TM79 (Dark Pulse) and return to 1F.

1F

Return to the previous intersection and go east this time. Use Rock Climb to continue northward and battle Dragon Tamer Clinton. Cross the bridge to the north to reach the exit.

Pokémon League (North)

With Victory Road behind you, the final hurdle standing between you and the Pokémon League has fallen away. Climb the crashing wall of water with Waterfall and enter the imposing castle at the top.

Pokémon League (Castle)

The Pokémon League building holds the traditional amenities, with a Pokémon Center and PC to the left, and a Poké Mart to the right. It's a good idea to stock up on items that restore health and status ailments for the gauntlet ahead.

To proceed, you must speak to the Ace Trainer guarding the door. However, as soon as you get close enough, Barry comes rushing in. He is here to challenge the Pokémon League as well, and suggests a battle to determine the more worthy challenger.

Defeated, Barry says that he must not be ready for the Pokémon League yet. He vows to get tougher and become the Champion, and tells you not to lose to anyone before him. He then exits the building, leaving you free to continue onward.
