History

Conkeldurr and Trip

Conkeldurr debuted as a Timburr in Ash and Trip's Third Battle! where it battled Ash's Oshawott, even managing to scare the Sea Otter Pokémon by simply swinging its limber around. It used Strength to try and deflect Oshawott's Aqua Jet but it ended being meaningless as Oshawott's Aqua Jet went haywire due to him having his eyes closed due to his fear of being underwater. It subsequently managed to knock Oshawott off balance with Low Sweep, followed by knocking Water Gun's blast out of the way with Strength. Timburr then clashed against Oshawott's Razor Shell with Dynamic Punch to a failing effort, ending with Timburr getting knocked into its timber and fainting as a result.

In Cilan Versus Trip, Ash Versus Georgia!, it was shown to have evolved into Gurdurr when Trip selected it to battle against Cilan's Dwebble in the first round of the Club Battle tournament. It gained the lead early on by using its steel beam to block Dwebble's attacks before going into the offensive with Rock Smash. Despite Dwebble retreating back to its rock-hard shell, Gurdurr's strength was so powerful that it managed to crack the shell and surprise everyone, especially Cilan. It quickly followed up with another Rock Smash, only for Dwebble to scuttle out of range. Trip then decided to switch tactics and called for a Stone Edge attack, which caused Dwebble supereffective damage. It then missed several shots with Dynamic Punch followed by Gurdurr getting trapped in a ring of Rock Slide-based boulders. Despite managing to heave itself out of the rocks with its pure strength, it was immediately knocked out by Dwebble's Shell Smash-boosted Slash attack, therefore eliminating Trip from the competition.

It evolved again sometime prior to the registration for the Clubsplosion tournament in The Clubsplosion Begins! when Trip showed off Conkeldurr to Ash and his friends. It then battled Bianca and her Emboar in the next episode, managing to block Emboar's Arm Thrusts with its concrete pillars, which subsequently managed to also block Emboar's Hammer Arm. After blocking yet another move, this time Flamethrower, with its concrete pillars, Trip called for Conkeldurr to use Bulk Up to boost its attack and defense before going in with Strength, causing great damage to Emboar, before trapping it completely with Rock Tomb. The battle continued going into the next episode, where Conkeldurr's Stone Edge was blocked by Emboar who used the rocks created by Rock Tomb to defend himself. Emboar then used Fling to launch the rocks at Conkeldurr, who used its concrete pillars to knock the rocks away. Not allowing it to use the concrete pillars to its advantage again, Emboar grabbed the pillars right out of its hands and Flung them at Conkeldurr, landing a critical hit and defeating it.

Personality and characteristics

Conkeldurr intimidating Ash and Pikachu

Even as a Timburr, it seemed to have a bit of a mean streak, enjoying scaring Oshawott by intimidating him with its limber. In The Clubsplosion Begins!, Conkeldurr willingly decided to intimidate Ash and Pikachu when they tried to start an argument with Trip, slamming its concrete pillars on the ground and glaring at them, which also showed loyalty to its Trainer as Trip never asked Conkeldurr to do so. It possesses tremendous strength even before evolving as seen in Cilan Versus Trip, Ash Versus Georgia! when, as a Gurdurr, it managed to heave itself out of Dwebble's Rock Slide trap with its sheer physical power.

Conkeldurr seems to be one of Trip's most favorited Pokémon, behind only his Serperior, evidenced by the number of times he decided to use the Muscular Pokémon in important battles, such as his participations in both the Club Battle and Clubsplosion tournaments.
