Welcome to Bulbapedia, Modesty Elyon!

By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

Gender Differences

In the anime, gender differences don't always confirm a Pokemon's gender, dialogue would help confirm it for Bulbapedia--BigDocFan (talk) 08:34, 15 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

That's ridiculous. In the anime, no one confirmed that Cynthia has a female Garchomp too, but by the differences in gender, we know that this is a woman. So why is the case of Gyarados different?--Modesty Elyon 23:32, 16 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Please refer to the Speculation policy regarding genders. Garchomp was introduced in Gen IV, so we can use its gender difference to confirm its gender, whereas Gyarados was introduce prior to Gen IV, so we can't use its gender difference to confirm its gender. In order for its gender difference to be used as confirmation, the female variant must be shown in the anime (and even then, all Gyarados that appeared before the female variant is shown must appear again afterwards). The anime has messed up in the past with Tierno's Raichu, so the anime not acknowledging Gyarados's gender difference is not out of the question.--ForceFire 03:00, 17 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Character history

Please stop adding short, unfinished sentences in history sections of characters, it only encourages laziness as other users will do the same and think "oh well, someone else will add the rest anyway". Either write up something decent, doesn't have to be an entire paragraph, or wait for someone else to actually add the information, Thank you. ForceFire 18:29, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

I added a note so it wouldn't get lost because sometimes people leave things behind so they won't forget. From what I do, I don't look like a lazy person, and it would be great if you wouldn't rush to say such unflattering words to anyone. Modesty Elyon (talk) 18:33, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
No other user has done what you were doing, not that I've seen in my time here, most users at least put in the effort to write up an actual sentence. We want users to put in the effort and not just hastily add unfinished sentences and hope someone adds the rest.--ForceFire 18:40, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Well, you haven't seen it, and I've seen incomplete articles. But perhaps this conversation should be stopped, since you've already gotten personal, calling me lazy, and I don't like that. Modesty Elyon (talk) 18:45, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yes let's put a pause on this. The situation is currently being looked at. Landfish7 18:47, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Just to be clear, I didn't call you lazy, I said it would encourage other users to be lazy and not put in effort. All you added was "In HZ083,", what I'm asking is a little more effort than that. "In HZ083, Zirc appeared alongside Onia." would've been absolutely fine as a start and someone else can build from there.--ForceFire 18:50, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Whatever you mean, you should think about what you say, because your words can offend other people. Calling someone lazy and telling someone how to edit is especially weird. The uncomplete template existed, and you shouldn't have deleted it by calling it "unnecessary".
In any case, this situation is over and obviously there will be no apology for your loud words from your side, so I don't want to continue this conversation. Modesty Elyon (talk) 19:16, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Edit warring

Hi there, regarding your edits to Zir and Onia, I understand you trying to leave a note for what is remaining to be added, but a hanging/incomplete sentence looks bad on the page. If you want to leave a note, you can use the needs parameter of the {{incomplete}} template, or you can leave it as a comment (between <!-- -->), and doing both would be even better. Since re-adding content that has been previously removed constitutes a edit war, you have been blocked from editing those pages for one day. If you think something that was removed by another editor needs to be added back to the page, please use talk pages to discuss the best way to add the content, and reach a consensus before adding it back. Thanks! Minibug (talk) 18:48, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

I wanted the best, but no one tried to explain anything to me; they just rolled back my edits, and then insulted me by calling me lazy.
And I also marked the {{incomplete}} template, but they still deleted it, considering it unnecessary, which I think is unfair. Modesty Elyon (talk) 18:57, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry you were insulted, and above all else we want to make sure that users are treating each other respectfully, and this issue will be dealt with appropriately.
We appreciate that you just want to improve the page, but we also must ensure that users follow all our policies in the process. Edit warring is not an appropriate way to resolve a dispute, even if you are not the first to make a revert, so all users involved are temporarily blocked from the page in order to make sure the situation doesn't escalate any further.
To clarify, what I meant by the "needs parameter" is that the {{Incomplete}} template allows you to specify what you think the article is missing, which is accomplished by using the template {{Incomplete|needs=like this}}. This is more helpful than just having the template by itself as it lets users know exactly what needs to be added before the template should be removed.
Thank you, and please let us know if you have any further questions. Minibug (talk) 19:26, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
I just hope "ForceFire" leave me alone because the way they made me feel was very unexpected and unpleasant.
As for needs=like this, thanks for explaining; I'll remember that and too. Modesty Elyon (talk) 19:40, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Onipurin links

I think the reason Chosen removed the link for Onipurin on HZ086 was before at present, Onipurin doesn't have its own page compared to other nicknamed Pokemon like Captain Pikachu or Snowy, work is being made on a page but until a page is made, the links aren't needed.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 11:27, 28 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Moving Pages

Hi. Please do not move pages to new titles by copy pasting the content (such as your edits on Liko's Florgato/Meowscarada). Pages must instead be moved using the Move Page option at the top of the page, so that the history is also moved over. This helps preserve the attribution to the original author. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out. Thanks! → SuperPikaPool13 10:44, 14 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Oh, and forgot to mention, I had to delete the current version of the Meowscarada page while moving the history over, sorry. You will have to add that in again. Please let me know if I can help in any way for that. → SuperPikaPool13 10:47, 14 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
I won't add anything again in this page; there was a lot of information there. You could have just left my first page with the info already there. Another user did that in the past and no one deleted anything. Modesty Elyon (talk) 10:53, 14 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately for Meowscarada, due to the clash in the timestamps of the page creation and moving, they were deleted. Regarding the Wattrel situation, the page was moved first (look at the same timestamp on the edits to Wattrel and Kilowattrel), but looks like the user who moved it saved their edit to the old title, which was then corrected by another user. → SuperPikaPool13 11:10, 14 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
This is not entirely true, Wattrel and Kilowattrel were still ultimately created by different people.
And why did you transfer my edits for your version of Meowscarada but remove me from the history? Why did you even do this if you saw a ready-made page for a new Pokemon with ready-made text? Modesty Elyon (talk) 11:17, 14 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
Let's address the questions one by one:
1. Regarding Wattrel: The way moves work in Mediawiki (the software that runs Bulbapedia, Wikipedia and other wikis) is it first moves all the history of the current page (let's call it A) to the new title (let's call it B). This makes the edit you see here. Then, at the now-previous title A, it makes a new edit, redirecting it to B, such as how you see here. Thus, the person who originally created A (as seen here) is now the creator of B (like here), and the person who moved A to B is now the creator of the redirect at A.
You can see this happening at Dot's Tinkatink to Tinkatuff, Roy's Fuecoco to Crocalor, and many others.
2. Regarding Meowscarada: As I said earlier, we have to move the page along with its history so that the original editors receive credit. Now, in this case, you created the new Meowscarada page at 10:12 UTC, but the page was moved at 10:37 UTC. Due to this clash in the histories, the 4 new edits in between those times were deleted by the software while moving the 591 previous edits. Again, I'm sorry that your edits were deleted, but the version you created also missed out on some information from the earlier page, which would've muddled up the histories more.
I hope this clears it up. → SuperPikaPool13 12:21, 14 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
My original version was good; you just moved my edits to your version of the page without writing to me first, thus thoughtlessly deleting me without giving me any credit, although in a similar situation earlier, the histories of Wattrel and Kilowattrel were somehow not merged. Talk page policy

Hi, just as a quick reminder of the talk page policy, please don't remove existing comments on a talk page unless it is spam or a reply to a conversation older than six months. Thanks! Minibug (talk) 11:39, 14 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I tried to move the comments because I just got confused about where to reply, because PikaPool started writing to me in two different places instead of initially replying on their wall. Modesty Elyon (talk) 11:49, 14 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Page creation

Hi! I have a question.

When you create pages for new content, you often save the page with only various notices like the {{Upcoming notice}} without saving it with any content, to then add the actual content within the same minute. The most recent example here is Ult's Sableye. Do you mind telling me why you aren't simply saving your final draft of the page as your edit? Usually, we prioritize doing tasks in as few edits as possible, because making too many edits puts unecessary strain on our servers. I'm sure you've experienced the recent 503 errors on the website over the past few days, so I want to make sure we do everything in our power to lessen any burden we are putting on the servers. MaverickNate 01:01, 21 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I just encountered this error, which is why I couldn't save the page on the first try. And I'm sure that this error on the servers is not my fault. Modesty Elyon (talk) 01:44, 21 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
Can you tell me more about this error when you try to save a page on your first try? It has been brought to my attention that most of that pages that you create you save an extremely minimal page with no content, even before this most recent set of 503 erros for the wiki, so I'm not confident why or if they would be related.
Otherwise, I never implied that the errors that were your fault. But, since frequent changes on the wiki do in fact contribute to the server load, I want to ensure that everyone is doing their part to keep the site functional for our readers, and not accidentally causing unecessary server stress from any action. MaverickNate 03:35, 21 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
I encountered this inconvenience, which began interferes with work, since this error does not allow to save the text normally. A white screen appeared with the message error 503 and some other words and all the settings were reset. When the page opened again, all the words had to be re-entered. I also don’t know why this arose, including in the archive, but today, it seems to have gotten better.
And in general I rarely create pages. Most often, I correct the text and upload pics when I find time. Modesty Elyon (talk) 06:21, 21 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
Ahh, that's a 503 error. It's unrelated to *saving* pages. It is, however, related to server stress, so in the future, it's important to avoid saving pages with minimal, sometimes broken content. You can simply save the page with the content you are going to add in the subsequent edit anyway, and skip the middle step of creating an unacceptable version of the page beforehand. Creating the page with just a template, improvement tag, or otherwise incomplete edits will cause the 503 errors to be more frequent, so I must ask you to complete your content additions in as few edits as possible going forward. Since you've done it about 10 times in the past month, despite feeling rare to you, it's frequent enough that staff must address it. MaverickNate 06:36, 21 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
I heard you, and most often I manage to save something the first time I write something. But I'm not sure what you meant about there is no problem with saving if I described my problem to you as I encountered it. That is, everything happened like this, let's say I write text on a page, try to save it, but this error appears and the text is reset. That is, this is exactly what interferes with saving, because it is very inconvenient when you have to open the page again and correct something again. And this can be quite painstaking considering that the texts are often voluminous and you have to research the place where I was .That's what I was trying to say, it's not about creating pages, this thing pops up quite spontaneously, most often during ordinary editing. Modesty Elyon (talk) 07:00, 21 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
Creating a page with just a sentence or an incomplete template isn't really something that should be caused by a server error. You would have to save the page first and then add the content in a separate edit, which is what we need to be avoiding. This isn't an issue any other users have been experiencing, so I'm not sure why this is happening.
If you're concerned about losing your progress while editing, you can copy the code from the page into a text document and save it on your computer before saving your edit, that way if a server error pops up, you can just copy your edit back into the page without needing to do separate edits. Additionally, if you are having a high number of server errors on your end, I might recommend hopping in our Discord server and sharing screenshots so we can properly investigate and potentially reach a resolution.
If you're intending to preview your edit first, you can click the preview button, but you shouldn't be pressing save and publishing when your edit has not been completed yet or if the edit leaves the page mostly blank. This can be considered disruptive, puts strain on the servers, and is likely to be an issue if this continues, so I'm hoping we can narrow down why this is happening so that it can be prevented moving forward. Pokémon Animated Series Continuity

Okay I'm going to make a talk page because I don't want to start a mini edit war where we keep undoing our edits and slowly explain our decision, when we can just explain it right now.

Pokémon the Series is only a western thing, in Japan (where the anime is originates from) Horizons is still considered part of the overall anime, with no special distinction to separate it from previous series that stared Ash. In Japan, they are still continuing the Season numbers from where Journeys left off. Meanwhile only western countries actually restarted the Season numbers to Season 1 for Horizons. Heck Australia even drop the new Season numbers for Horizons and is now using the current Season numbers that Japan and other Asia countries are using.

As for continuity, the "Shiny Pokémon" page combine "Pokémon the Series" and "Horizons" under "Pokémon Animated Series". Heck every page about a Pokémon has "Pokémon the Series" and "Horizons" under "Main Series". We still have no idea if the previous series with Ash and Horizons are even in separate continuities. As far as we know (thanks to the Tera Leaks), Horizons is supposed to take place immediately after Ash's story ended and is set in the same continuity. Now things could have changed during development, but as far as we know, those plans are still in effect. Japan has been marketing "Horizons" as the continuation of the anime, not a whole new thing. And to me, it seems the distinction between "Pokémon the Series" and "Horizons" in the west, is to separate the previous series with Ash and the new one starring Liko. This feels more true when Japan doesn't even have a term to separate the previous series with Ash, it is all just under "Pokémon anime". TBR2001 (talk) 23:31, 21 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Look at the other articles, like "Death in the Pokémon world", "First partner Pokémon", etc., Pokémon Horizons: The Series is designated as a separate section. It is not combined other parts of Pokémon the Series.
I reverted your edits for this reason. Also, when you write "Animated series" right under the title "In animation", it looks like a tautology. Modesty Elyon (talk) 23:41, 21 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
So if tomorrow "Pokémon the Series" and "Horizons" are stated to be canon to each other, are you still going to undo my changes because "Death in the Pokémon world", "First partner Pokémon", etc., consider Pokémon Horizons: The Series as a separate from Pokémon the Series. That seems like a very unprofessional way to organize a wiki. TBR2001 (talk) 23:55, 21 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
It has nothing to do with canon. They are separate shows, both in Japanese and English. There's no reason to introduce unnecessary header depth and complexity to this. The current approach is what staff has deemed most appropriate given the available information and what's best for our readers. Landfish7 00:05, 22 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Why you call me unprofessional? I reverted your edits, citing specific articles that I repeated to you again. I was unaware of any possible future changes that were only planned to happen someday, not when you started merging the two shows yesterday. Modesty Elyon (talk) 00:22, 22 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
And I'm not sure why this repeat is written in Shiny Pokemon, maybe it's someone's mistake. However, i see many other pages where Horizons are separated from Pokémon the Series. Modesty Elyon (talk) 23:50, 21 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
I have also seen many other pages where Horizons and Pokémon the Series are under Pokémon Animated series. Maybe they are trying to recognize how the main anime is being label. TBR2001 (talk) 23:59, 21 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Those sections are planned to be split in the future, per the same reasoning we've already given to you on your talk page. Landfish7 00:01, 22 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
This was an oversight and has been fixed. Landfish7 00:02, 22 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Question about your edits

Hi,

I don't mean to be rude, but I would like to know the reason for your edits to several of my contributions.

Regards Moribundead (talk) 06:33, 25 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I noticed a few inconsistencies that arose from visual editing, and when I had some free time, I corrected them to match the rest of the text inside the pages. Modesty Elyon (talk) 07:00, 25 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Pokécology

I noticed you uploaded this file as a png, but I was only able to find the file as a jpg via official sources (the Shogakugan website). What's your source for the png one? I might simply be missing it. MaverickNate 12:18, 10 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

The same source. I converted it to .png like many other book covers in that category. Modesty Elyon (talk) 12:22, 10 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Okay! Thanks for the info. Since nowadays, we prioritize maintaining the original file without unnecessary modification, I'll have to replace it with the jpg. I appreciate the prompt response. MaverickNate 12:27, 10 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
