Thousand Waves (Japanese: サウザンウェーブ Thousand Wave) is a damage-dealing Ground-type move introduced in Generation VI. It was not legitimately available until Generation VII. It is one of the signature moves of Zygarde.
Effect
Thousand Waves inflicts damage and prevents the target from fleeing or switching out as long as the user remains in battle. Ghost-type Pokémon cannot be trapped by this move. The trapping property of this move is not an additional effect.
Generation VIII
Pokémon Sword and Shield
In Versions 1.0 to 1.2.1 of Pokémon Sword and Shield, Thousand Waves could not be selected in a battle. Starting with Version 1.3.0, it is usable and functions the same as it did in the previous generation.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Thousand Waves cannot be selected in a battle.
Generation IX
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Thousand Waves cannot be selected in a battle.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Thousand Waves behaves like Earthquake or Sludge Wave: the user enters melee range of a target before creating a circular zone of damage around it.
