Gameplay
In order to play the game, players must insert three non-included AAA batteries. Once that is done, players must then turn the device on with the switch on the back to begin.
Once switched on, the Pokémon Trainer Challenge will give the player one fact and two Pokémon. The player must then choose which Pokémon the fact is referring to by pressing the purple and yellow buttons. Examples of some questions include:
- “This Pokémon can fly very high. Is it Charizard or Squirtle?”
- “This Pokémon is an electric-type Pokémon. Is it Sobble or Pikachu?”
- “This Pokémon wears its tongue as a scarf. Is it Greninja or Inteleon?”
When answered correctly, players will be awarded points. Conversely, the player will lose a point if they answer incorrectly. The more questions the player answered correctly, the more difficult following questions will start to be.[2] Sometimes special event questions will occur, where the Pokémon Professor will award double points for answering a question correctly. Additionally, Team Rocket can also sabotage a question, causing that question to award double penalty points if answered incorrectly.
