Included in each edition:[1]
- x1 Electronic Poké Ball
- x1 Trainer Field Guide
- x3 AAA batteries included
Gameplay
In order to begin play, the game must be turned on via the Poké Ball's electronic button.[2] The toy will then use its speakers to talk to the player, prompting them to think of a Pokémon for the Trainer Guess toy to guess. Saying "OK" will confirm to the device of the player's chosen Pokémon. The device will then ask a series of questions in order to guess the chosen Pokémon. Once a question has been asked, players must answer with either a "yes", "no", "I don't know" or "depends". If the Trainer guess toy guesses the correct Pokémon, then the chosen Pokémon will be added to the player's collection. The included Trainer field guide can be used to check which Pokémon are added to the collection.
If the player didn't hear the question, they can say "say it again" for the Trainer Guess toy to repeat the question.[2] To change a previous answer, players can state "go back" when the device is silent. It can go back as far as the first question if the player repeatedly says to go back. Pressing the Poké Ball's button again will switch the device off. Alternatively, the device will automatically switch off after inactivity for 60 seconds.
Players can check their electronic collection at anytime by holding down the electronic button for 2 seconds. The device will stop the current guessing game and then tell the player what Pokémon they have in their collection, how many they have left. The collection can be reset by first using a screwdriver to open the device's battery compartment. Then by pressing and holding the Poké Ball button down while closing the battery compartment down, the player should hear a "We now have 0 Pokémon" prompt, indicating the collection has been reset.
