The subject of this article has no official English name.
The name currently in use is a fan translation of the Japanese name.

Nintendo Cup '97 (Japanese: ニンテンドウカップ'97 Nintendo Cup '97) is a Stadium Cup, which appears only in the Japanese release of the international version of Pokémon Stadium.

The Cup has a level restriction, only allowing Pokémon between the levels of 50 and 55 to compete. In addition, the three-Pokémon team chosen by the player at the beginning of a battle may not have a total level sum above 155. This means as well that the six-Pokémon team chosen to compete can't have more than four Pokémon of level 55. It was based on the tournament of the same name.

In the international releases, this Cup is replaced with the Poké Cup which has identical rules.
