New Year's Battle (Japanese: ニューイヤーバトル New Year's Battle) was a special co-op event in Pokémon Masters EX celebrating New Year's 2026.
Three special sync pair scouts were available for the duration of this event. The "Daily Lucky Poké Fair" could be used once per day, and it allowed players to scout 11 sync pairs—including fair-exclusive sync pairs. The "5★-Only Lucky Scout" could only be used once, and it allowed players to scout 11 5★ sync pairs—including Master Fair-exclusive, fair-exclusive, seasonal, costume, and variety sync pairs. The "Select Master Fair Lucky Scout" could only be used once, and it allowed players to scout 25 sync pairs—including Master Fair-exclusive sync pairs—and scout one Master Fair-exclusive sync pair of their choice after using the scout.
During this event, players could take on Lisia (New Year's 2023) & Rapidash, Victor & Spectrier, and Leon & Calyrex in co-op battles to earn Brand New Year Tickets, but they could not use the "Create Your Own Team" option to challenge these battles. The battle "New Year's Battle" could be challenged an unlimited number of times, but the battle "Daily New Year's Battle" could only be challenged once per day. Players could complete event missions by completing the daily battle a certain number of times, awarding a total of 5,000 Gems for completing the battle five times. Brand New Year Tickets could be exchanged in the shop for rare items, including Move Candy Coins and Roll Cake Coins for each role. Extra Brand New Year Tickets were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.
In addition, limited-time Gym missions were available alongside this event, rewarding players for collecting Brand New Year Tickets. Players could earn Gems by completing solo missions and Gym Scout Tickets A by completing group missions.
When the event began, a splash screen featuring art of Sygna Suit Ball Guy & Electrode was displayed when opening the game. On January 1, 2026, Lana (New Year's 2026) & Dondozo were added to this splash screen artwork.

Trivia
- Unlike most events, this event began at 15:00 UTC to coincide with the beginning of New Year's Day in Japan.
- The event featuring sync pairs formed with horse Pokémon is likely a reference to 2026 being the Year of the Horse.
- The Sygna Suit Ball Guy artwork was used as the game's splash screen for a total of 15 hours (from 15:00 UTC on December 31, 2025 to 06:00 UTC on January 1, 2026), making it the event artwork with the shortest duration as a splash screen.
- It was used as the splash screen for 12 hours before the sync pair was officially announced on social media.
