Trainer Tips
Mudbray, the Donkey Pokémon

Electric- and Fire-type Pokémon are a common sight in eastern Paldea. Quaxwell and Floragato tend to struggle against such Pokémon, so Trainers may wish to catch a Mudbray on their way through East Province (Area One). Like other Ground-type Pokémon, it is immune to Electric moves, and its Ground attacks deal increased damage to both Electric and Fire Pokémon.

Artazon

Artazon, in southeastern Paldea

The town of Artazon is located in the southern part of East Province (Area One). A large windmill can be seen in the center of town, and a hedge maze can be found to the north. The Artazon Gym stands the south side of town. Known for its flowers, the town features the Pokémon Sunflora in several of its art installations.

Artazon Gym

Artazon Gym
Artazon Gym Leader Brassius, the Verdant Virtuoso

This Grass-type user and artist is a first stop for many fledgling Trainers. His sculptures of Grass-type Pokémon are as famous as the way he chooses to appear before challengers to his Gym.

Meet Up with Nemona

When you visit the Artazon Gym, you find Nemona at the front desk. She seems surprised to run into you here, and swears that it's definitely not because she has been waiting here in the hopes of battling you again. As proof, she offers you three Ethers instead of a battle, then runs off to train "maybe 20 Pokémon" while you challenge the Gym.

Registration

Speak to the receptionist to register as a challenger. In order to challenge Gym Leader Brassius, you must first take on his Gym Test: Sunflora Hide-and-Seek. To clear it, challengers must locate ten Sunflora scattered around town and lead them back to the Sunflora Lawn. She directs you to the staff member at the field, and shares the location data to your Map app.

Sunflora Lawn

The Sunflora Lawn is a fenced-in area located in the southeast part of Artazon, just east of the Gym. Speak to the staffer to accept the challenge, and the Gym Test begins!

Artazon Gym Test

Be sure to search everywhere, as there are many possible locations where the Sunflora may be hiding. Some may even trigger a battle when examined, and must be defeated before following like the others.

Sunflora Hide-and-Seek locations
Outside the Sunflora Lawn, near the entrance (×3)
East of the Gym, beneath the playground equipment
South of the southeastern row of buildings, in the corner next to the Sunflora Lawn
Behind the southeastern row of buildings, next to a few barrels
Eastern plaza, next to a Sunflora sculpture near the northeastern row of buildings
Under the windmill, next to a support beam
In the middle of the battle court
Center area, next to a tree to the south of the battle court
Between buildings in the northeast row, on a flowerpot
Immediately inside the entrance to the hedge maze
Western part of the hedge maze, on a flowerpot
Southeast of the hedge maze, next to the southernmost pool
Southeast of the hedge maze, in the southernmost branch of the wooden walkway
Between the hedge maze and the northeastern row of buildings, surrounded by sculptures

Once all ten have been found, lead them back to the Sunflora Lawn to pass the Gym Test. The staffer declares the test officially cleared, and asks that you report your result to the receptionist in the Gym.

Preparing for Battle

Speak to the receptionist, and she asks if you are ready to challenge Gym Leader Brassius. Say yes, and you are automatically escorted to the battle court in the middle of town.

Battle court

Artazon's battle court sits in the center of town, at the foot of a large windmill. The Gym Leader greets you from atop one of the windmill's blades before leaping down to the battlefield below. He introduces himself as Brassius, an artist specializing in Grass-type Pokémon. He reveals that he observed your Gym Test from atop the windmill, and expresses his wish that you demonstrate in battle the same eye for beauty that helped find the Sunflora. Brassius views the upcoming battle as a collaborative work of art, and is eager to begin.

VS Brassius

Grass-type moves are super effective against Ground-, Rock-, and Water-type Pokémon, while Grass-type Pokémon are weak to Bug-, Fire-, Flying-, Ice-, and Poison-type moves.

Ice and Poison Pokémon will have the easiest time defensively against Brassius's team. Bug, Fire, and Flying Pokémon are also useful, but will take serious damage from Sudowoodo's Rock Throw. Brassius will Terastallize his Sudowoodo at the earliest opportunity, causing the Rock-type Pokémon to become Grass type instead.

Grass Badge
Reward:
$3,060

After the battle, Brassius awards you the Grass Badge. Having earned two Gym Badges ensures obedience from all Pokémon caught at Level 30 or below. He also gives you a copy of TM020 (Trailblaze) as a prize.

Meet the Art Teacher

With the battle concluded, you find yourself back inside the Gym building. As you turn to leave, you are stopped by a man in a suit who asks if you might be the Trainer that he heard about from Nemona. He introduces himself as Hassel, a member of Paldea's Elite Four and art teacher at the academy. He asks what drives you on your journey to become a Champion, and mentions how Nemona is the youngest Trainer to reach Champion Rank in all of Paldea's history. Hassel wonders if such potential lies within you as well, and looks forward to the day that you face him in battle. As he turns to leave, he advises you to start training hard now, and invites you to take part in his class sometime.

The first Languages and Art classes can now be accessed from the Entrance Hall.

East Province (Area One) Watchtower

The East Province (Area One) Watchtower stands atop a cliff far to the northeast of Artazon, where it overlooks the city of Levincia. Reaching the tower unlocks it as a fast-travel point.

Lower level

Climb to the lower level, then continue to the top.

Upper level

Another suspicious-looking treasure chest can be found on the upper level. Examine it to trigger a battle with a Chest Form Gimmighoul, and collect the Gimmighoul Coins that it leaves behind.

A Rare Candy can also be found here.
