In the anime
Swalot first appeared in Deceit and Assist. The Poison Bag Pokémon belong to a coordinator named Anthony, who used it to compete in the Grand Festival.
In From Brags to Riches, a trainer named Dominick used a Swalot and Tropius to battle Ash's Corphish and Torkoal. Corphish managed to defeat Dominick's Swalot.

When Swalot spots prey, it spurts out a hideously toxic fluid from its pores and sprays the target. Once the prey has weakened, this Pokémon gulps it down whole with its cavernous mouth.

Swalot has no teeth, so what it eats, it swallows whole, no matter what. Its cavernous mouth yawns widely. An automobile tire could easily fit inside this Pokémon's mouth.

Swalot's name is possibly a shortening of swallow a lot, as in eating or drinking a large amount. Its Japanese name is based on 丸呑み marunomi, swallowing whole.
