Powder Snow (Japanese: こなゆき Powder Snow) is a damage-dealing Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation II.

Effect

Generation II

Powder Snow inflicts damage and has a 9.8% chance of freezing the target. Powder Snow cannot freeze the target if it has a Substitute or already has a major status ailment.

Generation III onwards

The effects are the same as the previous generation; however, it has a 10% chance of freezing the target instead.

Powder Snow hits both opponents in a double battle. In a triple battle, Powder Snow will only hit opposing adjacent Pokémon.

Trivia

  • Castform is the only non-Ice-type Pokémon to learn this move.
    • However, Castform can be an Ice-type, so every Pokémon that can learn this move can potentially get STAB from it.
  • In Generation II, all the Pokémon that learn Powder Snow are dual types.
