Plot
Dot about to catch Quaxly
As Liko, Roy, Dot, and Friede decide to begin their counterattack against the thief who took Liko's pendant, Dot thanks Quaxly for being with her. Friede pulls out a Poké Ball and offers it to Dot, much to Liko and Roy's surprise, as they thought that she already owned Quaxly. Dot admits that she wasn't interested in being a Trainer, but has made up her mind to be his partner. She throws the Poké Ball, though so poorly that Quaxly has to jump at it to get caught.
With the culprit behind Liko's pendant still on the run, the Rising Volt Tacklers decide to split up in order to find them before they manage to get away. Wondering how the culprit might make their escape, a billboard advertising a leaving cruise prompts them to head to the docks to intercept the ship, though they are too late to get onboard. Friede manages to reach the ferry with his Charizard, being greeted by a mysterious man who sends out a Bisharp. Friede believes he's found the culprit and sends Captain Pikachu out to battle Bisharp. Meanwhile, the other members, barring Ludlow, tell the children to stay put. As they head out to search, Liko explains about her pendant to Dot and how it's brought them all together. Suddenly, Arboliva's Ancient Poké Ball starts shining, making them realize that her pendant must be nearby. They split to pinpoint the location, with Quaxly soon leading dot aboard a docked cargo ship.
Back on the ferry, Friede and Captain Pikachu realize that the man they're battling is not the person they were looking for, based on his battle style. Pikachu quickly defeats Bisharp with Thunder Punch and Friede tries to question him, only to realize that the man had no idea who he's working for or what he's doing. Murdock calls Friede, telling him that he's unable to contact Dot due to the same signal jam from before. Meanwhile, as Dot explores the ship, a Beheeyem appears and puts its hands out to hypnotize her, but Quaxly appears and uses Pound to stop it. She tries to call the others, but discovers her signal is jammed, making her realize their culprit is on the ship. A Magneton appears as Spinel talks to her from the miniature speakers attached to his Pokémon.
Backed into a corner, Dot has Quaxly use Water Gun in the air, which alerts Liko and Roy to her location. As the cargo ship is about to leave, Roy jumps on, and Liko, though almost falling behind, jumps for Roy's hand at the last second. Spinel has Magneton to use Electro Ball on Quaxly and expresses his disappointment in Dot, having believed her to be a capable Trainer. Before he can have his Pokémon finish the pair off, Sprigatito slams into Magneton with Quick Attack, Liko and Roy making it to Dot's position to give her a hand. Based on his words, Liko realizes that Spinel is a member of the Explorers and the one who took her pendant. Spinel, though impressed with Liko, threatens to erase her memories again, but Roy steps in and has Fuecoco use Ember to drive Beheeyem away. After some encouragement from Roy and Dot, Liko confidently stands up to Spinel, standing together with her two friends and all three of their partners against Beheeyem and Magneton. Meanwhile, Mollie contacts Friede about the cargo ship leaving with sightings of the kids nearby. Standing by to receive word of the ship's heading, Friede can only hope that Liko is okay.
Back on the cargo ship, Spinel orders Beheeyem and Magneton to use a Psychic-Electro Ball combo attack, which hits Quaxly. Formulating an idea of how to deal with an attack like this, Liko orders Sprigatito to use Leafage, causing Spinel's Pokémon to become blinded for a moment and their combined attack to fail. Liko follows up by having Dot join her in going for Beheeyem, using Quick Attack and Water Gun to overwhelm the Cerebral Pokémon. Spinel orders Magneton to ascend, avoiding an Ember from Fuecoco. Roy counters by bringing out his Wattrel and has it use Peck. In the process, Wattrel steps on Fuecoco's head, angering him as he launches another Ember. As Wattrel prepares to attack, it notices the fireball from behind and dodges it, resulting in Magneton getting hit by the attack instead. Wattrel, upset by the unintentional friendly fire, begins fighting with Fuecoco, forcing Roy to leave to break them up.
Arboliva emerging from its Poké Ball
Believing that they have won, Dot orders Spinel to hand the pendant over immediately. The Explorers Admin becomes uncharacteristically angry seeing Beheeyem and Magneton having fainted. He surprises the children with the presence his Umbreon and has it use Snarl, which easily overpowers Quaxly's attempted counterattack. Spinel apologizes to Umbreon for having to send it out to fight weaklings, while the trio note that it's on stronger than the previous two Pokémon. Regardless, thinking of all the times her pendant has saved her, Liko resolves to do the same for it. Just then, the pendant responds to Liko's determination, shooting up a huge beam of light that gives off Spinel's location behind some containers. Blinded by the light, Spinel walks out of his van with the case in tow, but the light intensifies so much that he ends up dropping it, with the pendant falling out. Sprigatito snatches the pendant and brings it back to an overjoyed Liko. Spinel orders Umbreon to get it back, but with a sudden burst of light, Arboliva suddenly emerges from its Ancient Poké Ball and glares angrily at Spinel. While Spinel expresses signs of curiosity and mental instability, Umbreon tugs on his sleeve, begging him to back off, which he eventually does. Liko, Roy, and Dot jump into Arboliva's arms as it jumps overboard. As they float to safety, they're approached by Friede. On the ship, Spinel understands that Liko is the key to the pendant's secrets.
On the Brave Olivine, which has finally begun heading for Galar, Dot arrives to meet Liko on the wing deck. Urged by Quaxly, she thanks for helping her. Quaxly urges her further, and she starts bringing up Nidothing's name. Liko figures that she wants to tell her how she's a big fan of Nidothing, but Dot loudly says she's wrong. Through much difficulty, Dot confesses that she is Nidothing, resulting in a reaction of utter disbelief and shock from Liko and Sprigatito.
Meanwhile, Spinel gives his report to Hamber, while being teased by Coral for his failure despite having supposedly prepared for everything. Sidian believes he was foiled by tunnel vision. Chalce asks him what he thinks the pendant's power is, but he gives no answer, resulting in Coral continuing to tease him, Chalce simply stating that he had nothing to stay, while Sidian stares at him with suspicion. Hamber concludes the meeting, causing the holograms of the other Explorers members to fade away. As Spinel steps out back onto the cargo ship's deck, he admits that he can't submit unverified information, musing that his encounter with Liko has made him even more curious about her and the pendant.
