Koko (Japanese: ココ Koko) is a major character who appeared in Secrets of the Jungle. Raised by Pokémon, he is a boy who believes he is a Pokémon.

Koko as a baby

Koko's real name is (Japanese: アル・モリブデン Al Molybden). He is the only child of scientists Chrom and Rin Molybden who were employees of the Biotope Company under Dr. Zed. When they learned of the Great Tree's location in the Forest of Okoya and that the Zarude living in the forest worshipped it, they decided to protect it from Dr. Zed who was prepared to destroy it in order to gain access to the secrets of the Healing Springs. Infuriated, Dr. Zed chased the family as they tried to escape in their car and he ran them off the road into a riverbank. Stealing the data, Dr. Zed left the family to die in the ensuing explosion however Al survived as he drifted away from the car down the river. He was found by a single Zarude deep within the jungle, far away from any human settlement. Now an orphan, Al was adopted by the Zarude who found him and was renamed Koko. Knowing that this was against the rules of its troop, Zarude decided to leave the other Zarude behind so it could raise Koko safely. This Zarude, who took to wearing a torn piece of pink clothing, would be known as 'Dada' to Koko.

Over the next ten years, Zarude raised Koko in the depths of the jungle and the two developed a strong bond. As he had no memory of his human life, Koko believed that he was also a Pokémon and was frustrated by the fact he was seemingly unable to use attacks. Zarude didn't want to tell Koko the truth of his origin, despite the troop leader telling Zarude he was welcome to return to the group if he allowed Koko to leave the jungle.

Character

Koko has a parent-child relationship with Zarude, calling it Dada (Japanese: とうちゃん Daddy).
