Trivia
- Natu shares the same species name with Pidgey and Spearow. They are all known as Tiny Bird Pokémon, though Natu has also been called a Little Bird Pokémon.
- Natu had its species name changed within a generation (albeit only slightly). In Gold and Silver, its species was given as Littlebird, while Crystal added a space, changing it to Little Bird. In addition, later games changed its species name to Tiny Bird, which, as previously mentioned, is the same as that of Pidgey and Spearow, though it has the same meaning as Little Bird.
- Natu is one of ten non-Bug, Template:Type2 Pokémon that cannot learn Fly. However, its evolution Xatu can learn it. It shares this trait with Drifloon and Drifblim, respectively.
Origin
Natu appears to be based on a Parrot.
Name origin
Natu's name may be a reference to Atu, an Aztec god. Atu is also the name of the first man of Samoan mythology. Natu is also Latin for birth. Its Japanese name appears to be a shortening of native.
