The Pokémon Battle Dome Playset is a toy produced by Jakks Pacific. It is used to make Pokémon figures have imaginary battles. The playset is over two feet tall and consists of four floors to battle on: Rock, Water, Grass, and Fire. An exclusive Raichu figure is included with the playset, but no other figures are.[1] The manufacturer recommend age of use is four and up.
The user places a Pokémon on the elevator, and tries to make it get to the top floor without encountering any rock piles or trap doors along the way. Once at the top, an attack cannon is used to defeat the opponent. When the battle is over, a banner can be raised to announce the victory.
Prototype
A prototype picture shows different features that were changed drastically before the final release:
Top stage: Instead of a red base and opaque half-dome with a paper background of an audience, the top is a green base covered by a translucent half-dome. The pop-up "WINNER" flag is also missing. Instead of a wind-up moving target and a Pokémon Marble shooter, there appear to be two pull-back, pinball-style launchers that launch two Pokémon at each other and what appears to be a score counter.
Forest/Mountain stage: Instead of a split Forest/Mountain stage with a stump in the back, it is a whole, round, rocky surface. The falling rocks accessory appears be a split-open case, instead of a tiny rock-like case with a slide-open hatch.
Water stage: The trapdoor appears to be on the right with a visible switch to activate it, the final product's trapdoor has no switch and closes loosely. Dropping something on the door or simply pushing it will activate it. Shiny Kingdra is also seen on the stage. It is either a missile-launching obstacle or an unreleased figure.
Basement: The bottom floor is an undersea stage with a door, instead of an open area. The bottom also does not appear to connect to the "Battle Bases" and tiles that came with the figures of the Battle Dimension line. The 2D background is also missing.
Trivia
- Promotional and box images show the water in the water stage is translucent; however, the actual part is an opaque light blue. The left side of the Forest/Mountain stage is also brown instead of green.
