Continuing their Galar region trip, Ash and Goh are perplexed when their food disappears in front of their eyes! It’s the work of a timid Pokémon named Sobble, who becomes invisible whenever it touches water. And when it cries, everyone cries! Goh catches it, but when he sends it into battle, Sobble becomes overwhelmed and runs away. It gets captured by Team Rocket, who can’t resist crying along with it. Luckily, Goh thinks of a way to block the effects of Sobble’s tears, so he and Ash send Team Rocket blasting off again! Goh apologizes to Sobble, and the little Pokémon is once again overwhelmed—this time with joy!

incomplete plot
Ash and Goh are at the Wyndon Pokémon Center, enjoying various kinds of local curry with their Pokémon. As they eat, they are approached by the Sobble from the end of the previous episode, which turns invisible and starts eating their food. When it finally turns visible again and finds itself surrounded, it starts to cry. To their surprise, Ash, Goh, and their Pokémon also start to cry, despite none of them feeling sad. Sobble uses this distraction to disappear again, although Ash and Goh are determined to follow it.

Ash, Goh, Pikachu, Raboot, Riolu, and both of their Farfetch’d are eating breakfast, preparing for the second day in the Galar Region. The Sobble from the previous episode returns, using its invisibility to steal food from the group while they’re distracted. Goh manages to see it, and while staring it down, Sobble becomes visible again before running into a wall, surrounded by the group. Due to all of the people and Pokémon around it, Sobble begins to cry, which soon causes the whole group to start sobbing, before Sobble becomes invisible again and runs off. Ash and Goh decide to find it again, due to it being a Pokémon they had never seen before. While searching near a fountain, Nurse Joy appears and suggests that Sobble rarely show up in big cities like Wyndon. However, she suggests to check inside the fountain, due to the fact that Sobble prefers water. Goh introduces himself to Sobble, explaining that he really liked his invisibility, and asked Sobble if he wanted to join him. When Sobble doesn't respond, Goh becomes frustrated as he really wants to catch it, throwing a Poké Ball at the fountain. The Poké Ball hits Sobble without Goh realizing it, since he was worried that he had wasted a Poké Ball. However, Goh and Ash are shocked when Goh’s Rotom Phone exclaims that Sobble had been captured! Meanwhile, the Team Rocket Trio are lamenting that a previous plot to capture Pikachu failed after being blown away by a strong breeze back in the Kanto Region. Meowth explains that somehow the balloon carried them all the way to Galar. After spotting Ash and Goh, Team Rocket tries to sneak up on them while the two listen to Sobble’s Pokédex entry, before being blown away by another strong gust of wind. Nearby, Riolu is digging in the ground, only to find a large, wild Silicobra in the ground, which promptly attacks. Goh decides he wants to catch it, and throws a Poké Ball at it, but Silicobra easily deflects it. Deciding that he would have to battle it, Goh decides to send out Sobble to battle, which Ash shows excitement about, wanting to see how Sobble battles. After Silicobra roars at Sobble, it becomes invisible again out of fear. Goh tells Sobble to use Water Gun, which Sobble reluctantly does. Silicobra uses Dig, and Goh makes Sobble use Pound on it when it pops up. In retaliation, Silicobra sprays sand onto Sobble, making its invisibility useless. Silicobra then tackles Sobble, causing it to be knocked back, before crying, which in turn makes everyone else cry. Sobble begins to run away, and Goh attempts to return it, but it was already too far away. Ash and Goh decide to split up to try and find it. Ash ends up not finding it, while Goh finds it near a river. Goh tries to explain that they weren’t gonna do anything to Sobble, but Sobble ends up crying again and jumps into the river. Goh decides that they’ll have to do something to make themselves immune to Sobble’s tears, before remembering something Mr. Mime did while chopping onions. Ash soon returns and rejoins Goh to follow the river downstream. Further along the river, Team Rocket is yet again sad over their failure, before a Morpeko arrives and begins eating their food. Meowth uses their Rotom Phone to analyze it, but the Rotom decides that it doesn’t feel like it. After Morpeko eats all the food, Jessie throws a can at it out of anger, but it misses and hits an invisible Sobble, which quickly becomes visible as Morpeko runs away. After hearing Ash and Goh calling for it, they decide to capture it so they can exchange it for Pikachu. Goh feels guilty that Sobble ran away because he made it battle without considering how it felt. Ash tells Goh that he just has to try harder when they find it, and that Goh only just caught it, so not everything will work out right away. Goh agrees, but before he can go back to searching, Team Rocket shows up, and reveals that they had captured Sobble in a cage. After refusing Team Rocket‘s offer, Team Rocket summons the TR Gacha Machine, which produces an Armaldo and a Magnezone. Ash and Goh choose their usual Pokémon: Pikachu, Raboot, and Riolu. However, Ash and Goh are quickly immobilized due to Magnezone’s Supersonic. Jessie taunts Ash and Goh, saying that they’re morons for wanting to save a crybaby like Sobble. This causes Goh to become angry, telling Jessie to be quiet, and that while Sobble may be a crybaby, it is anything but weak. Goh then promises Sobble that he’ll save it, before Magnezone’s Supersonic becomes stronger. Seeing Goh struggle to save it, Sobble recalls some of its past of being ignored and scared all the time, before remembering that Goh genuinely liked it for who it was, and was risking his own safety to save it. Sobble, now filled with determination to escape and reach its new trainer, bends the bars of the cheap cage Team Rocket had used to imprison it, becoming invisible due to its sweat. It jumps out and bounces off of Jessie’s head, while Meowth panics after realizing Sobble has disappeared. Goh calls out to Sobble, but Armaldo puts its foot down on it, stopping it in it’s tracks. This causes Sobble to begin crying again. This causes everyone to cry, including Magnezone and Armaldo, to Team Rocket’s dismay. However, Ash, Goh, and their Pokémon are now wearing goggles, revealing that Mr. Mime had taught that trick to them. Now that they are immune to Sobble’s tears, they use a team attack made up of Vacuum Wave, Ember, and Thunderbolt, causing Team Rocket to blast off. Goh approaches Sobble and apologizes for forcing it to battle earlier, and says that Sobble‘s timidness is a gift, because it is always alert and can protect his friends if need be. Goh finishes his apology by saying that because of that, Sobble isn’t weak, but that he’s strong. Sobble begins to cry tears of joy, which Goh begins to panic about since they all took off their goggles. Team Rocket has been defeated again, and are sitting by their balloon when the Morpeko from earlier appears, asking for more food. After they tell it to get lost, it transforms into Hangry Mode, and uses Aura Wheel on them, causing them to blast off again.
As Ash and Goh try to find Sobble, Nurse Joy arrives and informs them of the Pokémon's identity upon hearing their descriptions of it. She mentions that Sobble can turn invisible upon coming into contact with water, so it could even be hiding in the fountain behind them. Goh starts talking to the fountain, telling Sobble that he likes its ability and asks if it wants to come with him. Unaware that Sobble really is hiding in the fountain and had overheard him, Goh takes the lack of response as a sign that Sobble isn't there. In a moment of frustration, he throws a Poké Ball at the fountain, and, to his and Ash's big surprise, it actually caught Goh.

Meanwhile, TRT is floating overhead in their balloon, which had been blown all the way to the Galar region in the middle of an unsuccessful attempt to sneak up to Ash and snatch Pikachu with a net. To the trio's surprise, they notice Ash and Goh down below, and they try to sneak up on them again as the two are focused on Sobble's Pokédex entry, but the balloon is once again blown away by a gust of wind.

While Ash and Goh discuss about Sobble, Ash's Riolu accidentally digs up a Silicobra, which gets their attention. Goh attempts to catch it, but as a Poké Ball throw fails, he decides to battle it instead, sending his newly caught Sobble against the Ground type. As Sobble is intimidated by Silicobra, its own sweat turns it invisible, and Goh uses this to his advantage by having Sobble attack Silicobra with Water Gun and Pound. However, Silicobra then spews out some sand, revealing Sobble. When Silicobra attacks Sobble, it starts to cry, causing everyone else nearby to cry too. Goh's Rotom Phone informs him that Sobble's tears pack the chemical punch of 100 onions. As Sobble cries, Silicobra escapes, and the sand on Sobble is washed off as it runs away, with Goh being unable to recall it before it disappears completely.

Ash and Goh follow Sobble based on the trail of crying people, and split up to cover more ground. Goh eventually finds Sobble at a riverside. He tries to apologize for making it scared, but Sobble just cries some more before diving into the river and escaping again. As Goh tries to think of a way to counter the effect of Sobble's tear, he remembers something regarding Mr. Mime and gets an idea. When Ash shows up, Goh informs him of Sobble being headed downstream, so they start following it there.

Further along the riverside, Team Rocket's balloon is revealed to have crashed down near a bridge. They suddenly notice a Pokémon eating their food, and their Rotom Phone informs them that it's called Morpeko. As Morpeko finishes eating their rations, Jessie tries to throw a tin can at it, but misses and instead hits Sobble, who turns visible again as Morpeko runs away. Upon learning Sobble's name and hearing Ash and Goh calling for it, the trio concocts a scheme to get Pikachu.

Goh blames himself for Sobble running away, but Ash reassures him that he can't expect things to always go the right way the first time. Once the two reach the bridge, Team Rocket reveals themselves and shows Sobble in a cage, demanding Pikachu in exchange. Ash and Goh naturally refuse, so, after recovering from a flood of tears caused by Sobble, Team Rocket calls for the Rocket Prize Master, which grants them a Magnezone and an Armaldo. Ash and Goh prepare for battle, but Armaldo disrupts their offensive with Metal Claw, before Magnezone stuns everyone with Supersonic.

Team Rocket mocks Ash and Goh for trying to rescue such a weak crybaby, but Goh protests that Sobble is not weak, displaying his determination to rescue it. Seeing this, Sobble remembers what Goh had told it earlier at the fountain, and becomes determined enough to bend the bars of the cage and escape. Jessie and James, upon noticing this, berate each other on buying a cheap cage, and have Armaldo step on Sobble's tail to stop it from getting away. Sobble starts crying as usual, and although Team Rocket initially thinks their Pokémon are unaffected by its tears, it turns out they were merely observing their fake eyes, and they're both crying from their real eyes. Ash, Goh, and their Pokémon, however, are using goggles to protect their eyes from the tears. Goh explains that he got the idea from remembering how Mr. Mime had once used goggles to protect its eyes while cutting an onion. While Team Rocket's Pokémon are immobilized by crying, the duo's Pokémon launch a combination attack that sends Team Rocket blasting off. With the villains dealt with, Goh approaches Sobble and apologizes for sending it out to battle without asking first. He then reveals that Sobble has also taught him something new: being always alert allows one to always protect themselves and their friends if need be, meaning that its timidness is not a weakness, but a strength. Sobble almost starts crying in tears of happiness, and Goh quickly tells it to not do it.

Later, while Team Rocket contemplates their lack of success, they're approached by the same Morpeko from before. MTR translates that it wants more food from them, but as they don't have any and just tell it to scram, it suddenly Hunger Switch into its List of Pokémon with form differences and uses Aura Wheel to send them blasting off once more.

Blurb

Plot

Ash and Goh are at the Wyndon Pokémon Center, enjoying various kinds of local curry with their Pokémon. As they eat, they are approached by the Sobble from the end of the previous episode, which turns invisible and starts eating their food. When it finally turns visible again and finds itself surrounded, it starts to cry. To their surprise, Ash, Goh, and their Pokémon also start to cry, despite none of them feeling sad. Sobble uses this distraction to disappear again, although Ash and Goh are determined to follow it.

In a moment of frustration, he throws a Poké Ball at the fountain, and, to his and Ash's big surprise, it actually catches Sobble.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket is floating overhead in their balloon, which had been blown all the way to the Galar region in the middle of an unsuccessful attempt to sneak up to Ash and snatch Pikachu with a net.

Meowth translates that it wants more food from them, but as they don't have any and just tell it to scram, it suddenly changes into its Hangry Mode and uses Aura Wheel to send them blasting off once more.
